I don't mind playing on the rocks... I just keep my mind set on the fact that I need to drive this thing home AND to work everyday.

That extra step is also very helpful when doing anything on the roof.

Yeah, I think if I had to do it again I'd go flat on the sliders - particularly with the 3" lift.
I'm 6'3" and have to be real careful not getting trouser leg dirty at work/store.
Wife and kid have no chance - angled is too awkward as a step.
Dog doesn't really like the angled - had no issues with running board.
Angled works fine for roof access though.

I'm sure if I had flat I'd be wishing I had angled after getting hung up on a rock... gotta complain about something.

Either way - completely sold on getting top plates - keeps mud/rocks down and safer as a step and the kick out - great to stand on and I have used it off road.

Unfortunately, I am doing it a second time. When I bought my 4R last year, it was my first SUV/truck and we had a trip planned later the same month of purchase, so I needed some type of step immediately for my wife and daughter. Went with a body mount PC steel running board step. Fast forward a year and a ton more research on my end, plus a little surface rust already, and I've decided to go with a slider. Flat, top plate, and powder coated.

Anyone here have their minimalist rack yet? Wondering if the spacers used are still the same metal-type that are typical in their racks. Also curious as to how much wind noise these bars create.

Yes, same spacers.

Its a little more wind noise than the 3/4 rack, but it wasn't bad. I only really noticed our prototype set when I got to about 80.

Hey LFD, I’m running 4 ruggedized LFD crossbars on my factory 5th gen side rails. I need a bit more length for carrying canoes, kayaks and SUPs on my roof. My truck is a 19 TRD ORP with a sunroof. Which of your side rails do you recommend to still have access to the sunroof? Will the 7/8ths work? Is the 3/4 the same length as the OEM side rails?

By the way, said before, but the addition of the wind fairing eliminates any wind noise from the crossbars. Just wish there was a way to mount it flat so that the head of the bolt isn’t higher than the crossbar.

Thanks!

Definitely go with the 3/4 rack length as far as sunroof question goes. That's what I have and it does not interfere with the sunroof at all.

I've included a side shot to give you an idea on length. Not sure, but I think it is a little bit longer than stock.

Regarding the 'Contact Us' based ticket system on LFD's site. Great format, but I think some of the alerts might suppressed, as mentioned in previous posts in this thread.

The other evening I created a ticket with a few questions. The next morning I received a reply, Very speedy

Later that day, i left a reply in the ticket, but I see the Ticket Status has stayed in 'WAITING FOR CUSTOMER' status. I'm not sure if anyone is aware of my reply in the ticket. Perhaps the status not being updated is preventing alerts on LFD side.

Anyhow, just a friendly heads up.

The 7/8 sits pretty much directly over the sunroof. It shouldnt affect sunroof operation but it definitely blocks the view. The 3/4 is behind the sunroof. 3/4 is roughly the same length as the OEM rails including the mounting feet, so you have about 60" of mounting space available.

Yes, typically once we reply to a ticket, it goes to "Waiting for Customer" status and is removed from our active ticket inbox. We've seen some instances where if a customer replies to their ticket again before we do, it goes to the waiting status again without us seeing it. There seems to be a few other actions that can cause the status change too.

We do try to view all messages and not just the filtered new messages in the inbox a few times a day, but we get a ton of messages between the help desk/contact us page, Facebook, IG, here, and emails, phone calls, texts, etc and we do miss some sometimes. We don't have a full time person on customer support, we basically tag team it as we have time during the day. We try to catch everything, but we're not perfect yet

Want to PM me with your name so I can try to find your ticket?

Nice!

That's my initial set up. Next month I'll add a fairing with a regular crossbar. Eventually ending up with a 7/8 set up.

Talking LFD Hybrid Front Bumper Quick Review - YouTube

We didn't do an install video on the LFD Hybrid Front Bumper since the process is so similar to that of the Hidden Winch Mount (Install video already done for that one). However, we had a few requests for a video review...

I have the same set up as the previous person with 4 cross bars on stock side rails. Looking to add more length since we can't mount the cross bars to the front or rear of the stock side rails.

So, you are saying the 3/4 rack adds about 18 inches of usable storage space? Would it also be wise to get a 5th cross bar at that point?

Lastly, any summer sales coming up I should wait for before ordering?

Thx a bunch for the info!!!
