Ok, a few things to look at/try real quick.

First, give each crossbar a knock, and make sure one isn't loose. I've missed tightening a bolt before, and it made some noise. The crossbar with the loose bolt made an obvious noise difference when knocking on it.

Second, if they're all tight, we should have sent some rubber tape with the hardware. See if the front feet are touching metal on the roof anywhere, and if so use some of that rubber tape on the bottom of the foot where yous see contact. If you ran out of the tape or discarded it, we can send you more.

Lastly, I don't remember which rack you got, but if it's an all aluminum one with no steel crossbars at all, adding a couple steel crossbars may stiffen it up and take out any excess movement if it is an all aluminum. We can send you a few to swap out and try if so.

Im out of the office for the next 10 days at the trade show for the parent company, but I can have someone in the office send stuff if you need.

I have 4 crossbars on the stock roof rails. The wind noise between 45-55 is excessive. So I ordered the wind deflector. It took a bit of adjustment to keep the wind deflector from vibrating against the roof on the highway, but I finally got everything working good and successfully made it from Dallas, TX to Moab and back with out issue.

Unfortunately about a week after I returned the wind deflector started vibrating against my roof again. I ensured the deflector and crossbar were fully tightened down but it made no difference. At this point I’ve taken everything off and will only mount the cross bars up when on a trip.

I've noticed mine is hit or miss, too. Some trips there is very little noise/vibration but then on the next trip it's really, really bad. Still playing with the position of the front cross bar and keeping the deflector as close as possible to the cross bar.

Do you have the steel or aluminum deflector? Also, what rubber are you referring to? Thanks.

I used this on my wind fairing to remedy the sound and vibrations everyone speaks of
McMaster-Carr

I got the idea from @mynameistory

Steel. Mine came with a rubber piece to put on the edge of the deflector to protect the roof. It sits about 1/4 inch off the roof

Cool - thanks. I got the aluminum version and it didn't come with any rubber pieces.

Installed four of the ruggedized steel crossbars with the wind deflector a while ago. Quailty stuff from LFD and happy with the purchase. Only minor complaint is that the powder coating in some corners seems to be chipping off, so I just did a quick touch-up with spray paint. Blends right in

That's odd you're getting vibration, I have no issues with my 4 bars and wind deflector. I don't notice any wind noise either. Only time I notice it is at highway speeds when the radio isn't on, but I always have it on and don't notice a thing. Have you tried different positions for the 4 cross bars? I'm assuming you already set it up like mine though with two on the farthest ends of the rack and the remaining two splitting the middle evenly.

Some of the early deflectors can definitely do that.

We revised the deflectors and added a center support to help stiffen it up. You may need to add a few washers underneath that new center support to get the center a bit higher off the roof.

The rubber edge trim we're now including can be used during installation to protect the paint, but can be left on or removed after install. The clearance seems to vary between different setups. If there is enough clearance on your setup the edge trim wont matter and can be removed, but if its closer the edge trim can be left on to help.

Send us a message via our help desk if you have one of the older farings, and we'll send you a new one to replace it.

Got my 5th Gen crossbars installed yesterday. They fit great!
The finish & powder coating looked very nice.

I was surprised how soon they were shipped considering they were on backorder. Great communication when I decided to add another cross bar to the order.

Waiting for the wind fairing before I adjust for any wind noise but didn’t seem to be too bad.

Good stuff!

That front Pro bezel with the side mounted lettering is the coolest version I have ever seen. Where can I scope those letters and that front trim, or are they custom made?

That is actually the emblem off the tailgate of my 2008 Tacoma. It was sprayed with Plasti-Dip (gunmetal grey). We loved it, but it got broken by a piece of road debris in Colorado. So, now we are ordering a new one to replace it.

AH, now that's pretty darn cool. I like how unique it looks, compared to the big ol' Pro TOYOTA in dead center. Thank you for letting me in on your secret
