My 3rd 4Runner and I just discovered the Pedal Commander

I’ve had a 2011 SR5 a 2014 TEP and now a 2017 TRD Off Road Premium. I always hated the pedal lag. The guy I bought the 2017 from confirmed what I heard recently about the Pedal Commander. It’s the best $260 I’ve spent on my 4Runners in a while. Buy one of you’ve been thinking about it. You won’t regret it.

You realize there isn't anything wrong with the Engine or power.......it's always been the programming of the throttle!! It's like another Truck with the Commander, Get One!

I’m no automotive engineer but I can’t imagine any, as all this thing does is give you the power your engine already houses sooner in the process of pressing the accelerator. That’s really it in a nutshell. You aren’t boosting anything, just accessing the power more quickly. It makes it feel like a different truck. It has so many settings every can find the level of pedal sensitivity they like. I’m currently on City +2.

Ive been Running mine on City -2 for over 6 months and haven't noticed any significant improvement on mpgs. Im sure in eco mode you could squeeze a few more out but it drove like a slug for the few minutes I tested it.

I would highly recommend the unit however. The install is a breeze and the acceleration and control are much more predictable. The ability to change the settings on the fly based on your driving conditions is helpful as well.

Negative? Possibly increased transition knock. Since the gas pedal is essentially being stomped for regular driving with the device turned on, you could get more knock that way until revs build a little.

In reality most folks will prob just end up using a lighter pedal foot to get the same acceleration, so might not be much difference in knock.

Only other issue is I could see it causing problems with multi-terrain select's mappings, and possibly with ATRAC or Crawl Control if you interrupt it by pressing the gas. But you could always switch the device off for that stuff.
