Headlights turned themselves on after I shut it off

I've got a '16 SR5, stock headlights, got home last night around 9:30, turned off the 4r and locked it with the keyfob which always shuts my lights off...

I got a call from a neighbor at 2AM(!!) saying my lights were on. I go out, sure enough they are on, tried locking it again with the keyfob and the lights stayed on. I had to open it and turn them off.

Anyone have any idea why it would do that?

What do you mean that you had to open it to turn them off? Isn’t it normal to turn off the headlights with the steering wheel stalk?

If you leave your lights on and lock it twice with the fob, the lights turn off. Sounds like his turned back on after this somehow.

Do you have remote start, mine won't turn the lights off if I use that fob to lock it. I have to open it and shut the door.

Yeah so to clarify, normally I do not turn off my headlights on the stalk next to the steering wheel, I click the key fob lock button twice and it shuts them off.

I don't have a remote start, nothing aftermarket in terms of wiring or bulbs with the headlights.

And even if I don't double click the key fob, they still turn off after about 30 seconds.

I know they shut off because it was dark out and I wouldve noticed if they stayed on. So somehow, they just turned themselves back on and were on for about 3 hours in the middle of the night.

I know if u turn the ignition on without starting the engine and the headlights are on they will stay on even after locking twice.

Same thing happens if you move the stock without starting or after you’ve killed the engine

These are all true. What I'm saying is, my lights were off, car locked, no one opened the door, and the lights came back on and stayed on. Hasn't happened since though, so we will just write it off as a fluke!
