Do you like running boards.....

Im on the fence but the wife wants them. I think the look good but looks good with out them. My wife likes them to actually step on. What did this option cost from the factory. I can get a set off craigslist for about $225 that came off a 2018.

thanks

Most people cant stand them. You could get them here for free when people took them off.

SR5? Sliders for an SR5 is probably overkill but that's what I would do instead of the cheap running boards that the first rock you hit will bend them. Much more expensive though. Get the flat or 5 degree sliders so they will double as a step.

I would personally put nothing on an SR5 as opposed to running boards. I like the looks better. But if the wife aint happy nobody is happy, so that may be your biggest concern.

I absolutely hated mine. The 4Runner isn't tall enough for them to be useful in any way for me, and they're really wide making it so I constantly had to stick my leg way out when exiting. As an added bonus it looks better without them

I needed some sort of step on mine for my wife. She is pretty short. I did end up going with a slider with the kick out and it works but it’s a little bit or a step up for my wife still since the slider is higher and closer to the body. I figured going to spend a couple hundred just bite the bullet and spend the money and get a slider. The caveat to it though it doesn’t sit as low as a Toyota step. The factory one is much better as true step than a slider is.

They are great for getting your pants dirty and getting hung up on rocks/mud/snow off road.

They do make excellent shelves in the garage, though.

I'm 5'6 and they are useful. Plus my kids are really young and it helps with them getting in and out.

I like that excuse better than me being short. I'm going to blame my kids.

I've been wanting to get running boards or something of the like for mine as well. I want a step and don't need or want the weight and cost of sliders.

Happy wife, happy life. Debate over. You’re getting running boards.
