no, if you're replacing with an aftermarket bulb; it should have a rubber grommet that fits and seals the hole after you have drilled the dust cap. If the hole that's drilled into the dust cap is slightly bigger than the rubber grommet than yes i would place tape around it to prevent moisture from getting inside.

The katanas fit inside the dust cap. I didnít modify or cut anything for them to fit and have zero issues.

As for adjusting, do it while itís darker out and aim it against a garage door or something so you can watch the beam pattern.

The HID kits youíll need to modify the dust cover. These you donít

Thanks. Of course I figured that out after drilling a 1/2" hole in each cover.
I'll find a 1/2" rubber plug at the hardware store.
