Door window replacement..

Long story short, 2019 has been an incredible test of many things. Like I can't believe the amount of crap to happen in 3 days so far. Tonight my 4runner was broke into at the hospital.

I need to get the rear door window replaced. Question is, should I go to Toyota or will any body shop replace with OEM glass that matches and all that?

Anyone have any advice?

I have slept about 10 hours so far this year. THought I was going to be able to get some sleep tonight and came out to find my window broke out. I just need to get it fixed asap as I have to be to work in 5 hours then back to the hospital for a few days. Weather is also wind and rain starting a few hours ago so I've got an awesome tarp and tape job on my new 4runner so I can get to work.

Still trying to keep positive though. Can't really get any worse....

Any auto glass shop should be able to replace with OEM glass. They will likely have to order it and you will have to specify that you want the factory tinted OEM glass.

Taking it to a Toyota dealer might result in same day service if they have the window in stock.

What about DIY?

I broke mine running the weed eater. To have it replaced is $245.00, deductible is 250. Then there is the fight of which policy it goes on, comprehensive coverage on the auto policy, or act of stupidity on homeowners. Either way I still have to pay the whole thing, so I figured I'd do it myself.

Picked up glass from a bone yard today for $55.00, but would like to see a video or have some info on getting the new glass back in.

You can replace the rear door window yourself it is not that hard just make sure you roll part of the way down before you start.

As I said I got the old one out using a weed eater, gloves, shovel, bucket, and a vacuum cleaner. I just can't get the new one in.

I would imagine the window guide between it and the small wing window needs to come out, but I don't want to take things apart that I don't have to in order to put the replacement in.

I replaced door glass on my wifes camry myself. I got the OEM glass and then stalked a safelite guy behind their local shop. He was more than happy to give me tips on doing it myself and with his tips it went smooth as butter.
