That's weird to me. I guess the world is full of different types of people.

Takata committed crimes and provided faulty test information, Toyota and other manufacturers replaced them as fast as they could given existing supply chain limits. Dealerships are not generally causing damage replacing the airbags, most are done in a few hours with zero issues and I'm not aware of a single non correctable problem from the replacement.

You present that like it's a massive global conspiracy with Toyota working diligently to destroy their reputation by either killing/maiming it's customers at worst, or causing an inconvenience at best.
Takata messed up. Toyota is making sure that it's getting taken care of. The people putting their hands on our vehicles are human and sometimes get sloppy and make mistakes. You have to accept that it's going to happen to a certain degree. That's not weird, that's realistic.

Exactly. I think people tend to forget that an automaker like Toyota isn't going about this the same way your average Joe would go about fixing something around the house. The industry didn't just decide to roll out repairs haphazardly and based on gut feelings and assumptions. There was a huge amount of lab testing, analysis, and collaboration to determine when and how to replace these airbags. We know they aren't automatically dangerous, and we know they become dangerous in a predictable way (time and environmental conditions).
Simply put, there was no supply chain in place that would give automakers any other option but to install safe airbags and replace via recall before they become unsafe. And if the dealer messes up your interior? That sucks, fight the dealer and Toyota to have it repaired.

My buddy and I dropped his '15 and my '16 at the dealer this morning.
They gave us a loaner vehicle and hopefully it will be done early enough to pick up later this afternoon.
The tech I spoke to and arranged to handle the service said that he normally doesn't find he needs to remove the console and it usually takes him about 1.5 hours. We shall see. (I left the safe unlocked and empty just in case.)

Sorry for the self quote but...
I should've just hung around instead of taking the loaner. My tech had the two vehicles done in under an hour (each). No removal of console, just the glove box, and some trim, including around the 4WD shifter. He mentioned that he figured out another way to shave about 20 minutes off the job.
Everything appears to be in order. No squeaks and nothing appears to be out of kilter, even after climbing a rough gravel road on the way home.

Recall Done
It took about two weeks for the dealership to order parts for the recall.Made appt and dropped her off today and waited for it to get done. Took less than 2 hours. I wish they would of wiped there finger prints off my clean dash and gave it a wash while there where at it. Other than that, it went well and glad it's done. Thanks OP for bringing this to our attention.

I have my appointment tomorrow at 9 AM. I just want to get this done and out of the way. I'll see if they have a shuttle service, as I live 10 minutes away from them.

One of my techs keeps asking me if I can get him these into the shop. Toyota pays good for the job and it isn't that hard. If anyone is around Chicago PM me lets get it done and ill give you a loaner so you don't have to sit around and wait for it.

Had mine done on Monday. Dropped it off at 9am, was done by 1:30pm. They even washed it for me. For those in the Austin area, Toyota of Cedar Park has an awesome service department.

I had mine done a few weeks back at Gullo in Conroe. I dropped it off late in the day on a friday and picked it back up the next morning (we were installing an ARB bumper on my father's tacoma, so I didn't need it). No issues whatsoever.

dropped off this morning
I just dropped off my 16' Limited this morning at 7am at Toyota of Plano here in Texas. They said the recall was only for the passenger front airbag. Stated it should be done around noon.

I dropped mine off today a little bit prior to 9 AM. It was ready by 5:30 PM. In the Chicago-land area/Midwest, it's still freezing cold out here. They were short staffed on Journeymen/Master Techs due to the weather. However, they shuttled me to my house and picked me back up. Luckily I had another car to go about my day and finally got this out of the way!

So picked up my '16 Limited from the dealership and everything looks real good. Dropped off at 7am, got a free loaner, got a call before noon that it was completed, went to pick up at 5pm, and everything seems real good. Toyota of Plano in Texas.
