I believe they are region based as Bayou_Pro said. From my limited knowledge, it has to do with the environment the car is in, and humidity plays a part. Supposedly it has a higher chance to fail in a hotter/more humid environment so it looks like the South is a higher priority.

Yes, i read a while ago that the more hot/humid the environment is, the faster the airbag stuff will get messed up, so those zones will be up first for recall.
Issue is that they go by where the 4r was sold, not by where it is at now, at least that was the issue from last time a read a few years ago.
I am not on the list, yet I live in Miami, but bought my 4r in Virginia.
I cannot imagine how long it will take the dealers here in Miami to replace this, it takes them two hours just to do an oil change, lol.

So far not on the list, you would think SE Texas would make the list.

Thanks for the heads up! My 2016 Trail is on the list as well. Living in NY now but purchased in FL. Hopefully that means no one else in the area will be bombarding the dealership for appointments.
When my wife's 2012 Corolla had this recall in 2017 we talked to the dealership and got a free rental (2017 Corolla) for about 6 months.

Looks like I'm a winner too. Going to have the dealer do this when I bring it in for an oil change next week.

I'm going to wait awhile, wait for the techs to get comfortable and efficient at doing the recall first. A friend had a 20010 4runner done down south and they scratched some stuff.

Thanks for the heads up!
Got scheduled for next week. Interesting that they asked me the color of my interior A-pillar trim to double check, they said it comes with a replacement garnish. Maybe parts were getting damaged when replacing the side airbags?

While ideally I'd aim for both a scratch free interior AND not having [potentially] a claymore mine pointed at my front passenger's torso, I'd settle for the latter initially, then work w/the dealer after the fact to fix the scratched interior.
But that's just me.
