OP I know you've already paid for the install and device. And it sucks what has happened to you. If however, you do take it back and get a refund you should check out 12volt.solutions.

I installed their remote start with the iPhone app/service that allows me to locate, lock/unlock and start my truck from anywhere with a cell signal (in the US). The install took all of 90 minutes taking my time. Zero wire splicing. They have a great vid on install (check their site). If I didn't have the cell accessory, the install would have been under an hour. Plug-n-play...so you can remove it if you ever get rid of the truck.

Getting off the airplane and pulling up the iPhone app to start the truck is awesome. By the time I make it to my truck the oil is warm, the inside is toasty...and I can start my trek back home.

Good luck.

Yeah, that tilt switch run is pretty ghetto. They could have at least used wire loom

T-harnesses and cell phone control is nothing new here. The OP bought a tharness solution and he can add phone control to that.

Cool. I was not inferring one way or the other. I was just giving my experience with 12volt and the setup I have.

With big box stores there is no reason their service is going to be competent. People demand the lowest prices on everything and want them to match internet prices etc. It's not cheap to employ competent workers, so the idea that they could possibly afford a competent staff is utterly impossible while maintaining their profit margins. Your only hope is you get some kid at his first job who is way too smart to be working at best buy and wont be there for long.

wow. i'm flabbergasted on the install.

I would have been much happier if you said you did this yourself and then we can say hey, this is the right way to do it. or have you tried this way.

It would have been much less aggravating! what scares me even more? if this is what you can see, what does it look like where you cant see it OMG. what happens when you take it in for service and the dealership sees a wiring mess and immeadiatly blames that.

This job you got is not a representation of everyone in the 12volt industry. this actually gets me mad. i fowarded you photos to their head of tech.

Hi man. Please get back to me and let me know what he says. I would like to have some expert advice when I go back and talk to the manager and let him know what is going on...

I just got the accessories variant in the mail and will be installing it in the next day or two.

Also seems like a good solution and is a little cheaper right now. Paid $280 shipped. I think the 12volt version is about $50 more even when using a coupon.

I have one question, I noticed that when I left the truck in 4x4 mode the romote start does not work. Is that normal ? I asked my friend and he told me it is supposed to work.

Hey Sebastian,
Are you missing the insulation that is attached to the inside of the hood?
Was it removed for the photo or did Best Buy remove it and not replace it?

I’d be upset with that installation. Whoever ran that wire around the door needs a different job

I never had any hood insulation since I got it from the dealer. I know they did a crap job. that's why I posted here, to get all the good info and get things fixed properly with the manager at Best Buy next Monday.

I will probably ask for a discount or a refund, but they already messed up things doing the install so taking averything out again I'm not sure. I will stand next to them the whole time and show them how to do things lol if they are not able to do it.
