I know they removed the heater control panel and the glove box on mine. I know that because I had to return back to the dealer the next day for them to replace the broken clips on my heater panel. First bump I hit my heater panel popped loose from the dash after the recall work was done, would not stay in place. Took about 4 hours for mine to be replaced and another trip to the dealer and 30 more minutes to fix the dash correctly.

We DO NOT take the whole dash out. Right side gets loose then the airbag slides out. Techs are doing these in about 1.5 hours. Whatever dealer is taking the whole dash out and center console apart is a f*cking idiot. The radio does come out though.

I actually didn't get it done yet. It's a long story...but basically I dropped my 4Runner of at Servco at 7:00 am on Monday. After I left, I got a call about 40 mins later from the service department saying they ran out of parts and I need to pick up my 4Runner. After talking to the service manager, he said it was due to the high volume of recalls being done, they ran out of parts the Friday before my appointment and they failed to let me know. I just got another appointment for next week on the 11th.

My recommendation is call the day before to double check to see if they have the parts available.

Is any of the work done around these parts (or removed)? Yesterday I happened to be on the passenger's side in the daylight and noticed the brushed metal trim piece over the glove box had some dried liquid on it. Wiped it off and looks like it stripped the color off. Tried to recall if anyone was in the front seat drinking anything then remembered I had done the airbag recall a couple of weeks ago.

This made me look around and I noticed the weather strip (not on the door) wasn't put back in place correctly by the vent. Fixed that and saw some water stains next to it. Then I followed the trim piece down and saw the plastic trim piece it meets by the floor was a little loose and now there's a small gap (on the driver's side it's flush and doesn't move). I also saw some scuffs on the dash like it had something dirty placed on top of it then dragged off. At least I was able to rub this out for the most part.

It's been rainy and overcast here in SoCal (poor us, right? lol) since I had the airbag replaced so it's the first time I had a good look in bright daylight. I don't want to go make a stink if there wasn't any work done in these areas and the culprit(s) were someone like my kids (even though they're young and sit in the backseat ).

I had a cracked dash on an '06 Avalon replaced during a recall a few yrs. ago. Took 3 trips to straighten out the mess they made. In general, I would say that may have been a little less involved than this air bag replacement will be.
God only knows what they'll screw up.

I am NOT looking fwd. to going through this again.

The right side of the dash comes up and the glove box comes out so the pics that you have by the weatherstripping comes off so you can take it back for that. The brush finished piece stays in place but the tech might have rubbed against it with something.

Is that piece something I can just pull off and pop back on myself to make it flush or is it most likely a broken tab or something since it won’t snap in place currently?

They did not take the entire dash out on mine, I have a little religious icon thing there and it would have been moved around if they removed the entire dash. Plus the dust, though lite, is not disturbed.

Question Sick & Disgusted...

My '14 SR5 when into dealer last Sat for the P Airbag recall op. The letter I received from Toyota said 1-3 hrs for this. I had mine back in 2.5.
BUTT...the slop tech spilled glue on my dash panel. Service manager has acknowledged responsibility, but what fix is there here? Dash replacement? Pls reply here with suggestions for a response. Thx!

Dash replacement for sure but with a different tech.
This is why I started this thread, I’ve been worried about my truck getting screwed up from them.
