I had the recall done on mine a month ago and my passenger side dash creaks like a wooden ship in a pirate movie. I called the dealer to ask about getting them to fix the creaking but I don’t know if they’ll make it worse. They said they’d have to take at least three hours to repair it but I’m wondering if I should just try to do it myself. Any thoughts?

I just got my recall in the mail yesterday. Not feeling good about it, but safety first. Its paid off in three months - so might be time to trade it in and get a tundra

Should probably consider leasing your next vehicle :P
And on the airbag, yea, I'm still nervous about this. My only creek or rattle is the sunroof when it's up, and the rear hatch. Those two are pretty easy fixes - dashboard isn't.

Toyota shop SM got back today, and set me up for a full dash replacement...part ($423.16) + labor. I am somewhat shocked...

Had my '13 LTD in to replace the device. I noticed a few small scratches on the glove box door. I'm thinking, while the tech. was removing the screws, the screws dropped on the door. Plus, there's a small dent where the passenger side air vent and dashboard meet, I'm thinking from replacing A pillar workscope.
I met with service guy and tech., they only offered to replace the items but I need to purchase the items. WTF.
So, instead of ever going back and allow any tech. touch my truck, I will just replace the glove box door myself.

Or rather than bending over and taking it, contact Toyota corporate and fight until your truck is fixed properly.

I had the recall done and the entire dash creaks. Seems that the noise comes from where the dash meets the windshield. I called the svc mgr and he said they only loosen the passenger side but he would see what he can do. Everything looks good but the creak is annoying. I'm going to try to fix it myself by sliding a strip of felt between the dash and windshield. Don't want to chance damage to my truck by a pissed off tech. In the meantime the radio turned on is a provisional fix.

If this recall is taking more than 2 hours, dealers are jerking you guys around. I took mine in for that and an oil change and was done in less than 2 hours.

I had the same experience with my oil change. Also no squeaks or scratches etc.

I didn't think of escalating to Corporate, I will try that.

Had my recall completed about 2 weeks ago at Servco Toyota in Honolulu. No issues yet. Took them about 2 hours to complete.

Had mine done a while ago and just noticed I have a gap where the cubby meets the console. I will wait for warmer weather so the plastic is more pliable and do the fix myself.
I never take any of my vehicles to the dealer after I purchase, unless its a recall. For this very reason
Actually This will give me an excuse to add some USB ports to the console so I guess it all works out. One Mod leads to the next.
