XM Antenna no reception?

Hi,

Has anyone had their XM antenna randomly die? I tried refreshing the signal many times with no luck.

I have never had that problem with any of my cars. Are you sure there isn't a glitch with your service?

As a long time electronics professional, I have learned that this kind of problem is often caused by poor connections.

Thus the first step is to unplug and replug the antenna connectors on the back of the radio. Often, just the remove and insert on the connector pins is enough to wipe off any corrosion. If you can get to them, do the same for ny connectors between the radio and the antenna.

If that doesn't work, use a the contact cleaner Caig Deoxit D5 on the contact pins. DO NOT use any other brand of contact cleaner other than D5 for they often damage the connector.

UPDATE:

Replaced the XM Antenna. It was very loose and the screw holding the antenna to the roof was rusted. I took the old antenna apart, some water was inside the antenna assembly. Went to a new car wash recently, with a very high power dryer, thinking that might of loosed the antenna, and then it snowed the next day. Will check the antenna bolt to make sure it doesn't loosen up every year or so. New antenna works perfectly.
