Can someone please give a brief summary of features for each model?
What’s the Difference in the Toyota 4Runner SR5, Trail, Limited, and TRD Pro? - Thomasville Toyota
I'm looking at the possibility of upgrading my 4th gen Sport to a 5th gen, either a 2010 Trail or something newer beyond 2015 models. Can someone please review the link above and share their insight on it? I want to be aware of what features come with said model so I can be well informed when it comes to purchasing a 5th gen. I'm interested in all models with SR5 being my least preferred.
TRD PRO
Limited
Trail
SR5
Main uses would be pavement with occasional off-roading, 4WD to combat annual snow and light use of towing
Thanks!

5th Gen Features/Models/Differences - Toyota 4Runner Forum - Largest 4Runner Forum
from the sticky:
Are You a New or Prospective 5th Gen 4Runner Owner? Need Help Searching? Start Here!
It hasn't really changed since 2015. The TRD pro colors change each year, and this is the first year that the TRD pro has been offered with a fox suspension, and available sunroof.
Also, the Trail edition is now called the TRD off road,
And the limited is available in the nightshade edition, which has some cosmetic changes.
Any specific questions, ask away.

Trail was basically just renamed TRD Off Road. Once 2014 hit the 5th gen 4runners came with different bumpers, headlights/taillights, grille and some other exterior makeover.
SR5- 2hi, 4hi, 4lo and ATRAC. No locking differential, no crawl control, no multi terrain select. The 4wd selector is a silver knob that you spin to switch. No hood scoop, the roof rails and end caps are all silver. The SR5 has 17x7 silver wheels.
Trail/TRD Off Road- Same as SR5 but has the rear locking differential, the crawl control, and the multi terrain select. It also has a hood scoop, red stitching on the interior "TRD" stitched into the headrests, carbon fiber trim around center console area, and different wheels (17x7.5). The roof rack end caps are also black, not silver like the SR5. It has silver bumper valances on the front and rear The 4wd selector is an actual shift knob.
I believe both the SR5 and TRDOR/Trail have premium packages that come with: vinyl seats (softex on the TRDOR), sun roof, heated seats, side view mirror turn signals, entune navigation, and built in garage code openers.
Limited- The Limited is the most obvious to quickly differentiate when seeing. It has different bumpers (front and rear) and I believe different rocker panels. It has 20" wheels, chrome door handles, and different chrome pieces all over the exterior. The limited has a torsen center differential and is full time 4wd. The limited also has some luxury additions like heated and cooled seats (real leather I believe), dual climate control, push to start, sensors on the door handles to lock/unlock, auto headlights, window roll up/down buttons on the rear hatch, etc.
TRD PRO- The TRD PRO is basically the exact same thing as the TRD Off road except it has upgraded suspension (Bilsteins on the older ones, Fox on the 2019s), a aluminum TRD skid plate, TRD Pro wheels (back to 17x7 for some reason, but a lower offset than the SR5 so actually stick out a little more compared), it comes with AT tires, the "heritage" grille that says TOYOTA instead of the Toyota badge in the grille. It also has black bumper valances instead of the silver on the TRDOR. There are also colors you can also exclusively get on the TRD Pro. Inferno Red, Quicksand, Cement Grey, Cavalry Blue, Voodoo Blue are the ones I remember exclusively to the Pro.

My old 2013 Trail also has a gas tank skid plate. Not sure about the newer ones or TRD Pro.

My 2014 SR5 has a full gas tank skid as well.
I think it may be the limited models that only come with partial coverage gas tank skid from the factory.

I admit I'm completely biased... However, if you can get a TRD Pro, get it.
Higher resale value and if you don't intend to mod it to death, it's off the lot awesome...
Mine has done things off road I honestly didn't think it could do... And the Pro has everything now the Limited has, EXCEPT, AC seats...
I love mine.

Trail/TRD OR has an option called KDSS. It allows for more articulation off road and less roll during turns for on-road. It's roughly an $1800 option which I think is worth it although it will take about 1/2" of ground clearance away and will add weight to an already heavy vehicle. Some people like it, some don't. If I were to guess it would be about a 50/50 split. The TRD Pro does not have this option.
Pre-2019 (I think) the TRD Pro didn't have an option for a moon roof whereas the TRD OR does. It is an option now. TRD OR pre-2018 (I think) didn't have the option for TRD Pro wheels and tires and I believe you do have that option now.
Ground clearance is about 8.5" for all models except TRD Pro and TRD OR with KDSS. TRD Pro has about 9.5" of ground clearance and TRD OR with KDSS has about 8". I wasn't happy with 8" of ground clearance, so I added a lift to mine.
TRD Pro Wheels are 7" wide and TRD OR wheels are 7.5" wide. Thus if you want to put 285's on a TRD OR (edit, I meant Pro) it is not recommended although some people do it. Not sure what the width on SR5 and Limited is. Limited wheels as I think has already been said are 20" in diameter.

Wait, the ‘19 PRO doesn’t have dual climate or the smart entry key/push button start, does it?

You are correct.
It also doesn't have:
leather
20" wheels,
xreas,
torsen center differential
pushbutton window controls on the liftgate exterior
turn signal indicators on the sideview mirrors
