I use the same Proclip Mount with a Ram XGrip and 6” arm for my mini iPad. The setup works well. I don’t use it often and once you remove the arm, there’s really nothing left to clutter up the interior.

I drive a lot with my job and I witness very dangerous driving daily now due to electronics in use while driving. #1 cause of accidents today is hand held devices in use while driving. Even if you are a great driver there is no way you can have 2, 3, 4 electronics mounted on dash, console, passenger seat and not be distracted.

I just read story on our page of a wrecked 4Runner due to other driver using electronics. Do yourself and everyone else on the road a favor and use 1 device, factory nav or phone for voice directions and concentrate on the road. I am sure you are as concerned for your family’s safety as I am for my family.

That looks like a nice low key option. Love the fact that it is no drill.

I like the one for the vent as well, definitely need a place to put the cell phone. Does the plastic around the air vent hold up pretty well against the pressure of the clip? Or does it bow/bend it out a bit?

The ProClip one on the vent is seriously sturdy too. One qualm is that it obviously blocks the vent a little which SUCKS in Texas, but is awesome for CarPlay functionality, especially Waze.

But yeah, the one on the console being no-drill was what attracted me and has been so awesome on the trail.

Are those bolts and nuts from the ram mount to the proclip?

Yes, exactly. And the ProClip clips on to the console.

Neither of them get in my wife's way, and the arm easily pops off the ball for storage. She can easily swivel the iPad to do the navigating as well.

I will say that I prefer the smaller iPad as it stays out of the way of everything a little better.

Does this get in the way of the transfer case shifter?

Yeah, a little bit, but all of the little Ram Mount arms swivel so easily. Kind of a non-issue for me personally. I tend to use the iPad when I'm in 4-lo for the most part. Maybe a longer or additional arm would get it out of the way completely? Just so many options with their parts.

I've got a different set up with RAM parts, but it's not as stable as I would like. Do you think that with a longer arm like the RAM-201U-D and 1.5" balls it would still be rock solid? I'd like for it to be higher up.

Just guessing, but I would imagine it being a little taller would just make the iPad shake a little more. I'm obviously rarely (never?) looking at the iPad while in motion offroad so not sure that would bother me. This is also where the lighter the iPad, the better. Love my Mini for this. My Pro is a little silly.

Swellrunner has a good youtube video on his setup and he ends up doing a two post mount to make it more stable since he has it a bit higher up.
