Got the SSO high clearance mod done today

I ordered these back in early November and they showed up this week. Took about 90" to get them installed and 2 Sip of Sunshine brews. Not a perfect fit secondary to my trimming, but pretty close and looks great.

The new wheels and 285s go on this week along with stiffer springs for the King Coilovers.
I've also a Frontrunner rack in the garage if we get completely snowed in and I feel up to it tomorrow.

What didnt you like about your cut and how would you do it differently if you could?

Funny, after I completed the install, I was like why do I even need the added weight from SSO. Its built solid as hell, but its not like it really provides any side impact protection.

In terms of the cut...No instructions were included. I followed the vid from Wonderlust Overland. I would imagine that since these are all made to order there is a bit of variance. Add to that that they bolt on to the SSO slimline bumper, its no wonder there is variance.

I would cut the fenders larger than stated, try on the metal piece and and trim as needed. My two sides are no where near identical(prob only 1/16th off, but enough that you need to custom cut each side. That said, they still look very good. Once I have the 285s on I think they will fill out the wells nicely.

Again, as much as I hate to admit it!! Yellow snow is correct...just cut the fenders and use some weather stripping.

the instructions have to be downloaded from SSO's website. Its pretty detailed and came in handy during my installation, although looking back, it wasn't the easiest way to install the wings. I also studied the YouTube video from wanderlust but they skipped a few steps that I wished they had included.

I have no regrets with my purchase, i think its cleaner than just a bumper chop but then again, is it worth 300 bucks??? Thats up to the end user to decide.

Sawzall with fine tooth blade and edge trim. The SSO kit is nice, and adds a level of protection, but to me, it takes the cut too high.

its all open, but there really isn't much there but your windshield wiper fluid reservoir, and wires to your fogs. All of which are easy to hide.

Relocate and tuck the wires, or leave it alone. fluid reservoir, you can spray paint it back or relocate it.

I've not had any problems with anything getting up in there other than mud, and it sprays out easy enough.
