STX4Runner,
I understand that Toyota does not allow it due to liability and warranty concerns. Too many potential problems for too small of a market for them. But, after talking to a guy that worked for Toyota for almost 40 years, I feel fine towing mine, as he does his. If I am wrong, I am only out a transfer case.
After having a Wrangler Rubicon JK for 7 years, I was ready for something different and a little more refined, so I bought a 2019 TRD Off Road Premium with the KDSS. I will miss all the Moab Utah rock crawling though!

Rats!
I just ordered the cross bars!
So much for my 2019 savings goals.
Looking forward to attaching my MaxTracks to them.

Tad,
We have a couple of bare bumpers without tube in stock. A few extra days to get one powder coated. Would be 2-3 weeks if you want one with the tube.
You should be able to do some of Moab still!
Give Shiloh a call and she can help you out.

Only out a transfer case??!! I think they're kind of expensive. LOL.
You'll do fine in Moab. I've had mine all over that place several times.

They weigh around 50lbs per side.
The lights are super useful. Hook them into your dome light, they light up the ground when you unlock the 4Runner.

Thanks for the info victoryrunner, I would want one without the bull bar anyway. I am worried that the tabs might be too high for my current setup. On my JK winch bumper, the tabs were already a little too high for my setup, and they were 24 inches high. Looks like on the 4runner, even with no lift, your tabs would be about 26" high?

STX4Runner,
I certainly do not want to pay for a new transfer case if i am wrong, but I am willing to. I figure a couple of grand to it myself with a used case if I have to. That is how badly I want the 4Runner to work for us. The jeep, and now the 4Runner, is our tow vehicle behind our motorhome, and my wife's daily driver. After 7 years with the Wrangler she REALLY wants the 4Runner. We looked at them several years ago, but declined based on them being un-towable 4 down.
I know we will be able to do most of Moab, but with the JK rubicon, I never worried about hitting the ass end going over the ledges. With the 4runner I could easily scrape up a lot of plastic bumper!
Regards,
Tad

Why won't someone make a clone of the 4Runner bumper with better approach angle clearance in metal instead of some of the atrocious designs out there?
You keep the overall look of the 4Runner but have the protection of metal.

There's a crossmember under the plastic bumper skin. That limits how much departure angle you can achieve.

It’s awesome that you can keep the coat hook and cargo net mount. Is it possible to still use the mounting hole for the retractable rear cargo cover or is that covered up?

No problem. That is about right, I'm measuring about 29" with 3" of lift and 285/70R17's. Just depends on what height your 4Runner is sitting at, probably about 25"-26".

We wanted to keep the cargo net functionality, but because the molle panel uses existing mounting locations, it uses the front cargo cover mount. So that mounting location will be covered up.

Updated Blitz Bumper Tube
We have changed the design of the tube on the Blitz bumper. Here is what it will look like.
