Press 3x lock to close? That would mess with my remote starter

Instead of 3x unlock, it would be nice to be able to associate this key fob with the trunk button to open the power liftgate.

So it only opens with the keyfob and unlock? It doesn't shut with the lock button?

-Unlock 3x’s on the keyfob opens the gate
-Unlock 3x’s on the keyfob closes the gate
-The button I mounted to the underside of the gate closes it
-The in-dash button opens and closes the gate

Does the foot sensor require the car to be unlocked? If so, does it recognise the smart key on limiteds?

Also l read that they have a recommended upper limit on the weight of the rear gate plus an allowance for any additional weight. However, that was late in the evening on I failed to bookmark the page. Needless to say I've so far not been able to relocate it.
The email from Autoease is pasted below:

Subject: Power Lift Gate fro Toyota 4Runner
From: Tom Merritt
Subject: Power Lift Gate fro Toyota 4Runner
--
Vehicle: Toyota 4Runner, 2018 Limited with Keyless Entry
1. Does the powered lift gate system work with the Toyota Keyless Entry System? YES
2. Will the rear ladder for a Gobi Stealth roof rack be acceptable with this system? NO
3. Could you email the PDF manual for this system to me? We will send once order is confirmed.
4. Please recommend an installer in the Seattle, WA USA area to me. I anticipate having my modifications done by Mule Expedition Outfitters in Issaquah, WA; Email: [email protected]; Phone: 425-394-1111. They have an excellent reputation in the local area.
This kit is pretty easy to install, your installer can do the job for sure
Have you had any difficulties or did you make any modifications to accommodate the ladder? Also how long will the group buy last? I'll probably need 2-3 weeks to make appropriate arrangements to place the order. I will have the installation done by others, as I do not have the facilities or the time to do this myself.

Hey everyone--
The installation/review article is now live on Trail4Runner.com.
Autoease Electric Powered Liftgate Review & Install for 5th Gen 4Runner
As for the Gobi ladder, you can see in my video in the article that I have it installed with an unfilled Rotopax and it works for me. They don't recommend any additional weight on the tailgate since they probably calibrate the lift speed and pressure based on a tailgate with nothing attached. I took the ladder off and it worked just as smoothly with it on.
I did try to open it driving through a parking lot at slow speeds and it would not open. I'm no expert, but my assumption is that because this kit taps into the lock/unlock wire, while the car is in anything but Park it won't allow you to unlock the gate. I could be wrong there and that may not be the way it works, but it wouldn't open while driving for me.
If you do wind up buying this kit, I highly suggest you refer to my article vs. the instructions included in the kit. I had the hardest time finding the right CANbus wires and where they say "run the wires through the liftgate", that is no simple task and we needed to put the wire fish I had to the test to make it work.
If you get one, hit me up with any install questions you have. I'm not normally the early adopter with this stuff but my girlfriend has the power liftgate on her Evoque and I've wanted one on my 4Runner ever since.

I have the foot sensor but I haven't installed it yet. My assumption would be that the car would need to be unlocked for it to function.
