If you spend more time driving on winding roads than off road than I'd think you'd want to keep with the KDSS. I found the ride quality on road of the KDSS to be much superior to the TRD Pro although when I drove both models back to back on the same roads, the TRD Pro was a 2017 and not a 2019 model with the Fox shocks. I found the nose dive to be much less on the KDSS model. I get bored with vehicles quite easily. I'm at this point now with my 2017 TRD Off Road. I've contemplated trading for a Pro but it just doesn't make sense financially for me to do that. If I could find an experienced off road shop that understood KDSS and the nuances of lifting a KDSS equipped 4Runner, I'd upgrade the suspension in a heartbeat. I did install a spacer lift myself but it didn't meet my expectations and working around the KDSS was a pain in the butt. I'm pretty certain a lift and some 33s would fix my boredom with my present set up and would save me a fair amount of money that I'd be losing if I traded for Pro.

Rear clunk noise going over bumps. Could it be the Bilstein 5160

Agree with your statement about driving on winding roads and keeping KDSS.

IMHO: for now, Trail with KDSS (or “TRD off Road” as they called current model) does have the best "on road" driving characteristics with additional benefits for "off road" vs. any other trim levels.

On the side note: I did the lift on my Trial with KDSS- went with spacers (custom size) and 5100 shocks- info on the lift in my signature if you are interested. KDSS is not complicating mild lifts at all… it maybe adds around 15-20 minutes to the job… but I my book I would not call it nuances… but on the end you still have KDSS and now lifted 4Runner…
