Reverse Creak - YouTube My 2020 (2100 miles on it) is making a similar noise- first time I've noticed it since I've had it. The consensus seems to be it's normal? Or maybe U-joints need some TLC?

Hello. Bumping this thread as I have the same issue.

I bought my runner brand new 22 SR5, end of March last year. Didn’t hear the sound until maybe around 2k miles. Went to dealership around 4k for my first service and they said it’s normal. I just kinda tried to ignore the sound went on with my day. But I’m about to hit 8k soon, and I can’t with it anymore. That first gear shift after you’ve just turned your car is just the most unnerving feeling. I still have everything stock. I’m thinking something needs some be lubricated. Maybe driveshaft? Might just go to a regular mechanic and have them diagnose it.

But wondering if OP ever figured out the issue.

Yeah they probably figured out it’s a normal part of the 4Runner experience. These vehicles make lots of weird noises. You’ll get used to them.

Having owned a 2011 FJ from new for 7 years and then my 2018 4Runner from new for the last 5 years, completely normal. I lube the prop shaft every 5 - 7k, and on the FJ I had the prop shaft changed out due to a recall on cluncking (not creaking) shaft way back when. The creak is normal just sounds of 4R awesomeness.
