Fairing?

Has anyone installed a Front Runner fairing (or any other fairing) on the front of their slimline rack?

I have the stock wind deflector installed but it's quite a bit noisier than I expected it to be (even when not carrying anything on the rack), making me want to close the sunroof anytime I'm going more than like 20+mph....

I'm considering the FR fairing, but I can't find any picture of anyone anywhere that's ever installed one on a 4Runner + FR Slimline...

If anyone's out there... how do you like it? Did it improve wind noise / aerodynamics any? Have any pics?

The other thing holding me back is trying to determine if I can still get a light bar on there later down the road, on top the leading edge, with the fairing bolting to the bottom... Or do I give up on wind noise / the fairing, and put the light bar under or in front as so many do?

@MosEisley your rack should have come with a fairing, two angled pieces?
I installed it on my rack, its still very noisy and a pain to clean underneath. If you have even the slightest gap it whistles too. I have thought about removing them to see if its any better. I rarely open my sunroof, other than pop up, now with the rack on.

Yeah they call that the 'deflector' I think, and I have that installed too. I'm sure it would be even worse without that. I'm talking about the fairing you can buy and install separately. Should have made my link more obvious:

Are you guys using stratchits or bungee to tie down small objects? I like the stratchits and will be picking up a few pairs, but what works best for securing light weight and small stuff like a ground tent or a chair for example?

Just read your post today, but I have installed that wind-fairing and it has helped a lot with wind noise and, in my opinion, it looks better.

I am planning on buying a Frontrunner rack with the fairing, but one of the accessories I am curious about is their pro tables with slides that fit under the slimline rack itself.

Anyone own their table and rack and how are you liking it? Is it noisy in the slides? Recommendation on the table size?

I don’t have a Front Runner rack, but I do have their Double Jerry Can Holder. Great accessory from Front Runner! It works really well at securing steel Jerry cans to my Victory 4x4 roof rack. Very well made powder coated stainless steel with locking capability.

The fuel cans and holder are part of our hurricane evacuation kit. I keep the cans full from June to November and the double can holder ready to install in minutes. Don’t want a repeat performance of the Hurricane Irma evacuation fuel shortage drama.

I used this link to find what I needed for making your own tie down rings. Bolt depot has everything you’ll need. I was unable to find the bolts and washers at any big box hardware store.

YouTube

No fairing for me as I have a light bar in it’s place.

How do people mount their traction boards? Looking for ways other than buying the mounts from Frontrunner or the like.

I have a few stratchits, a few wolf packs and the bottle opener.

I could not justify the cost of their table. so many other choices available. I ended up finding a nice one on amazon that I really like. it folds flat enough where I can lay it on my rack or cargo area and stack stuff on top of it. I can strap it down and not worry about rattling or noises.
having the multiple shelves plus paper towel holder makes organizing easy when camping or tailgating.

Here is my Front Runner Rack with their fairing and light bar bracket. The fairing really cut down the noise.

Has anyone used their roof rack mounted power pack module? I'm tempted at ordering one and modifying it to accept a weather proof anderson plug housing so that I can hook up a portable solar panel without having to run it into the car or to MPPT via the hood.
