Remote locking — does lights go on?
My 2014 4runner got damaged by a hit and run last month. We just got it back after $7k of repairs. However, i noticed my keyless remote doesnt blink the lights or beeps sound when I lock. It still lights and beeps when I unlock.
I took it back to the shop and they said Toyotas dont blink light up when its locked but he said he eould look at the sound issue. Is that true? I could have sworn that the lights blinked when i hit the lock botton in addition to the audio.

Yes it should flash the lights and make the normal sounds. I think both of these are user selectable but you'll need a tech to access them in the computer. I'd bring it back to them and have it fixed. If they are not a dealer then you'll need to bring it to one.

From the Toyota 4Runner Owner's Manual:
Opening, Closing, and Locking the Doors - Smart Key System
Operation signals - A buzzer sounds and the emergency flashers flash to indicate that the doors have been locked/unlocked. (Locked: once; Unlocked: twice).

You can set it to do whatever you want with Carista or something like that. Unless they changed the programming though it should have come back from the shop the way it went in.

^^^ This. I'm hoping maybe they didn't reconnect one of the actuators. Still, them stating incorrect information as a fact is troubling.

Thanks guys! I will go back to the shop next week..
What's more troubling is that they first said nothing was wrong, and the reason there was no beeping sound is because my remote battery was low... Then I pointed out to him the unlock still beeps fine, and the sound comes from the car, not the remote....
They said they would order me a new horn since maybe the horn is failing.. Does the beeping sound actually come from the horn?

No it's a high pitched beep not from the horn.

If everything works when you unlock but not lock you should really check your door lock actuators. Unlock all the doors, then lock with the remote, then try to open each door. I bet one of them is still unlocked and open. If that's the case lock it manually then hit the lock button on the remote and I bet it beeps.
Stop going to that dealership, find another one, this is a common problem.

That was it! The left passenger door wasnt locking... I can manually lock it and then the lock/unlocks work.. But after a while, it gets stuck again. That means I need a new lock accuator for that door?

Where was the vehicle damaged? It could be just simply not plugged in or damage to a harness if the problem occurred after the accident.

$115 for labor and the part they said was $315.40.. wow a lot more than the $6 bucks I thought.
Good thing the insurance is covering it.

Was hit mostly at the driver side door and towards the front but did hit the rear driver side door as well..
The lock issue is from the rear driver side door.

They can only replace the full actuator, that's the right price for OEM. You can get an actuator on amazon for like $50 though. You have to open the actuator to replace the motor.
This is a common failure item, the replacement actuators have the same bad motor
