Same. I expect dealers to say that since it will probably require swapping the surrounding trim, but that's not a big deal. I can't imagine the inputs/outputs are that much different between headunits.

Why don't you just get an ORP and swap the few TRD Pro bumper trims and grills? The Pro is just an appearance package and easy to copy unless you want the exclusive color. You can get a 3" coilover lift for the remaining price difference.

Hate that they did it to the 5th gen now when they could have done this years ago (I would have liked the tech, just not the grill).

All the tech they are adding is what I miss.
It's also really annoying (stupid) to do another refresh on the same gen. This like 5.3 or 5.4 now.

It so happens that I want the exclusive color. Plus the ORP doesn't come with the JBL sound system either AFAIK.

Will the other 'trims' get the updated infotainment/console? Do you think the ORP will have the option for push start? I'm in the process of ordering a '19 ORP with KDSS and might wait a few more months for the '20 if so.

If you are able to retrofit, PLEASE post a step-by-step. I would definitely make the swap if it's feasible.

Bummer... I can't imagine swapping KDSS onto a Pro is cheap. Should be doable though.

Yes to the updated infotainment, probably not to the push start.

I rarely say this about a 4Runner, but I would wait for the 2020.
TSS-P is really a nice suite of features for the every day drive. CarPlay/Android Auto aren't worth swapping out of an earlier 5th gen IMO, but I would wait for them if I was looking to buy now.
Plus, there will be a broader 2020 4Runner release closer to the on-sale date and there could be a few other changes, like the speedometer/tach.

5th Gen to Continue into 2020 - Second mid-gen refresh
From the Chicago auto show announcement today:
"Tech upgrades continue inside the 2020 4Runner TRD Pro with newly standard keyless ignition and a pair of USB ports for rear-seat riders. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility are standard on the 2020 4Runner and operate through an 8.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment."
So the electronics get an upgrade but no complete refresh it seems like. Not sure if these will apply to non-TRD Pro models.

8" inch screen might be worth the wait. Prices of the 2019 should come down slightly. They have been high.

I love how they completely glossed over the 4Runner... I mean they even showed off the RAV4 but the 4Runner didn't even get any showtime lol.

I thought it was a tremendous improvement. Climate buttons are giant enough, and less in my face as that giant bright silver volume knob was.
And it is a much better implementation of both car play and wireless android audio that Toyota managed in their current cars. And nicer touch screen.

It's been discussed many times but it makes 0 sense to do the swap because it would cost upwards to $10k, hence I'm hoping it becomes an option this year.
I'm wondering if the road manners are worth sacrificing at this point for the new options and color.
Also, it irks me that all the other vehicles have LED headlights and the 4Runner doesn't. And that TSS box is going to be a problem for bull bars...
