I suppose it depends on how much time you spend driving and your level of paranoia. I can see how it might help in an accident.

I put a deposit down 1 week after the details of this truck was released (April). I stayed with the last dealer who got me my 2018 cavalry blue because they were one of the few at the time not marking up the special color 4Runners. Despite the difficulties I had with the ancillary staff at the dealer when buying the 2018, the internet sales guy didn't seem to be too bad.
So now it is the middle of December and I still have no vehicle despite being the first on their list at this dealership. They haven't received any army green 4Runners to date. When I asked why multiple dealers in our area have sold multiple army green 4Runners, his response was "numerous dealers in our area had dozens of orders in before our dealership did." When I expressed my frustration that they had dropped the ball in ordering, he came back with "you misunderstood... there was no delay on our part, the other dealers just ordered before we did" which seems like double speak to me. He then proceeded to say "I am happy to refund your deposit if you no longer want to wait. There are no less than 8 orders after yours so it is no problem at all for us."
At that moment I started calling around to other dealers in the area. Everyone is selling at MSRP now and within 2 weeks one of the dealers had a VIN for me with an estimated completion in Japan on 1/6/2020 and a port delivery to dealer estimated to be mid February. Still crickets from "my dealer."
So, for those of you waiting patiently behind me in line at Burien in the Seattle area, my advice is to start looking elsewhere!

That stinks! Cars dot com shows 244 pros in the US. 45 are green. I wished I waited as none were in my area. This week there are 3 within 100 miles listed at msrp

12/11 - Told truck was still showing as "allocated" for some reason and has not arrived, checking with "Inventory manager" as to what is going on.
I have no idea what is going on and the Dealership doesn't seem to either. I still have a build sheet / VIN but I can't view any details on the Toyota owners site so who knows where the thing is.

They probably sold it to someone else, unless you have a VIN to track.

Yeah I had a similar experience with a dealer in eastern Washington. Best thing i ever did was get a burner email and get my info out. Got a few offers for a 10k markup but held tight at msrp with no port options. Took a while but finally got one in early November. No rime or reason to how the allocation process works. Some dealers could give eta’s, others couldn’t. Its been a while but Toyota of Renton was said to have one arriving in January.

I’ve had a VIN since late September, but I’m not sure how to track it. The Toyota owners app won’t let me add it or view specs, but I got a build sheet with all the details almost right away.
Correction: The app let me add it, but I’m unable to view the specs.

I haven't built a Toyota in ages, last time was an FJC "base model" back in 2007. I was able to more or less track the vehicle's progress back then with a call to the dealer.
You may have to eject.

I bought my AG from same dealer I bought my 17 Pro. They had 2 AG’s coming in. The other one was sold from someone working at the dealership and I bought the other. The sales manager was going to mark the msrp up but he did not because I bought my other one there. And if he would have I would have gone somewhere else.

@ ForRun
- thanks for the numbers. I wonder if those three AG are for real. I saw one within 100 miles of me which isn't in stock yet. When I called my old dealer (sold me Cement), he said they will be selling at $5K+ markup, even though his store's ad said that it was at MSRP. They didn't have the truck in hand, yet, just the VIN.
I've had a deposit on an AG that has literally been down since right before VooDoo Blue was announced. I was hoping/guessing the 2019 color would be AG... just a tad early. Mine is scheduled for January delivery, but I doubt I am going to pull the trigger as we have our lovely state government reducing most of the trade-in tax benefit starting in 2020. Plus, at this point, I'm not sure I would actually trade in my Cement.

Anyone here switched TPMS yet? I got a set of cloned sensors programmed to the same ID as the stock ones, and Im still getting the TPMS warning light.
Frequency is apparently the same (315) just hoping the added feature of individual wheel pressure doesnt mean a completely different sensor. Tire shop said these are the standard 4Runner ones, but that might not mean anything with a brand new 2020.

Hi MGordo,
Your the second person I seen had issues with them. Did you happen to read the info in your owners manual about what to do when you change them. I think it says you need to drive with them for a certain amount of time after they are programmed.

There is a 2020 thread somewhere and many are finding the tire shops are unable to program the 2020 sensor's and that only oem works and needs programing by the dealer.
Edit, is another forum, some guy said discount tire could not program them
