The only way to get a noticeably bigger screen for nav is to use a tablet.
Using the head unit for nav has a downfall: it's not in your line of sight. I can put my Garmin right where it works best for my use.
No need for adaptive cruise control, and the RAV4 mirror mod takes care of the need for blind spot monitering.

you do know you can hold down the send button on the wheel for a couple seconds to bring up siri… just saying

Haven't tried that, but good to know if my stereo is blasting because I'm deaf.

What the difference between the T8 and 9?

As another option. Saw this on Facebook and may works for those that want Android auto and car play on stock stereo.

They are sold out and have been for awhile. Plus, its almost $500 for a product that just adds base Carplay & Android Auto when the T9 comes in just a bit more and provides a whole lot more specs.
I haven't made my decision yet, but I wasn't impressed with the Beat Sonic at that price point.
My hope is slim to none, but that Toyota offers some discount to pre 19 5th gens to upgrade the radio. Won't happen though

Yeah, I am waiting to see how much the 2020 radio is before I pull the trigger on the T9 most likely.

Any chance anyone has heard if the 2019s might get a AppleCar upgrade? Or is this a dead rumor/subject?

No offense, but I live just fine without it. I drive in horrible Atlanta traffic everyday, and Waze going off every couple minutes doesn't help with my stress. None of these apps is going to help me get anywhere any faster.
Ok, maybe rarely, when outside of the metro area. Bluetooth and SiriusXM on my phone is all I need.
Get me some Howard Stern.

As an owner of a 2019, I can assure you Apple Carplay is not on them.

No, I meant software upgrade to existing 2019 head units. Maybe I miss-read the earlier comment

They have been back in stock intermittently over the last few days. I went ahead and ordered one, gets here today. These few videos sort of helped me make the decision.

T9 still seems to be a work in progress (not interested in buggy CarPlay) and $4k+ for a new 2020 OEM head unit is just out of the question for me. I'll report back my experience with the BeatSonic Carplay mod.

Do you guys think the new infotainment with apple carplay/android auto for the 2020s can be retrofitted into the 2019s or previous model years?

I think you can do it but its something like $4k. I wouldn't bother yet though, if you have an iPhone 11 or 11 Pro atleast. I have a 2020 4Runner and cannot use carplay to make or receive calls. It cuts the call in and out and freezes the entire system up. This ONLY happens with my 11 Pro. I have tested it an iPhone 7 and 8 and this does not happen. Its only the 11/11 Pro running the latest software and so far this issue has only affected me in the 4Runner but no other vehicle I have.

I have a 2016 TE with Entune Premium and my iPhone X does the same thing- locks up the radio and reboots it- repeatedly about every 60 seconds or so when bluetooth is connected. I had to remove all my phone settings from the 4runner and uninstall Entune and just use the phone without bluetooth in the car. Very annoying to have to use speaker phone instead of bluetooth through the 4runner, so I'm considering my options. The dealership says I need to replace the radio for $870 plus tax. If I go that route, I'm going aftermarket instead.
