Anyone have experience with this MBRP exhaust system?

Amazon link here -->https://www.amazon.com/MBRP-S5342BLK...a-569342133822

Hello out there! Looking to add some sound to my 4Runner and help my K&N CAI breathe (& I smashed the tip of my factory exhaust on a trail). Amazon sells this setup for a very good price but has absolutely ZERO reviews & I can't seem to find a review anywhere. Does anyone own one of these?! If so, how do you like it??

Thanks!

i had it on my tundra.

they were cheap, and sounded great

BUT:

After 5 years, it rusted so bad it looked like a derelict even though i live in the desert. I wouldn't recommend it on the rust issues alone.

Ahh, that's rough to hear. They even seem so confident in their ability to fight rust issues in the product description.

At that price point I may still be willing to give it a go - especially if the sound is decent (although I'm sure the v8 in the tundra had a lot to do with that).

Friend of mine has it on his Tacoma. Good quality at fitment. Little bit droney for me inside but it’s really not terrible. Sounds great outside. Definitely interested to here how it is on the 4Runner

If you smashed the OEM, you may smash this one too.
Best bet would be to turn the pipe to exit just aft the rear tire.

Thumbs up

I added this same system (in T304 stainless, not black) a week ago in conjunction with an AFE Momentum GT Pro Dry S intake and previously installed Pedal Commander.

I am very pleased with the MBRP product! It fit without issue and only took me about 45 minutes (without a lift) to install.

The sound is not a huge departure from stock... much deeper tone and louder when your foot is in it. Highway driving (80-85 mph) has no drone...

The throttle response is so much better I had to dial back the Pedal Commander settings because it was too sensitive.

I ordered the "Installer Series" in "Aluminized Steel"...It was $299.99 for the system. I couln't pass that up!!

I have heard of rust issues but living in Southern California, I think I'll be alright. Whenever I cake it in mud (or snow) I'll just spray it down. I was thinking about painting it with high temp flat black paint to prolong the rust issue, but I have reasearched too many mixed reviews & the curing process seems hit or miss. I did end up ordering some Flitz LQ 04535 Green Metal Polish that will clean off the factory oil that comes on the system that I hear causes some of the rust issue - plus add a layer of protection.

Can't wait to let the system fully breathe though. Thanks for the info!!

*Should be here sometime March 4th-7th & installed right after that.

Yea, I figure if I smash the tip on this one then I'll just pull the tip off & cut it back there somewhere for sure. At least I'll still have that muffler. Maybe even cut the pipe after the exit hole like I had in my TJ...but that'll prob be nasty sounding in the cab.

I had one on my Tundra for 5 years and it was great. I live where you live and we dont have to worry about rust much

@ Eibach ehh? I was there for the Tacoma World shin-dig they had a little while back. West Coast Bound or something to that effect. Sweet tour!!

Yea I'm sure the system will sound 100% less amazing than it did on the Tundra, but still maybe better than stock a little... Touche on the CA thing!! Dig it!

Yea, you could do that, but if you run with your rear window down you will be pulling in the sulfur exhaust aroma. lol
That's why I turned mine to the side exit....run with the rear window down, never smell it anymore!

Any chance we could get a vid of the sound? I had an MBRP on my Tacoma and I was pretty pleased with it. I'm thinking about throwing one of these on my 4runner too.

Rattling Sound

Has anyone experienced a rattling sound with this MBRP exhaust? Especially when you put your 4Runner in reverse?
