Stock Radio Head Unit Not Working Right

2011 SR5

When it comes to anything electrical, I run the other way... My radio head unit has been acting funny. Turn the truck on, head unit stays unlit for a while; will not turn on or function. Takes over a few minutes for it to come to life. Recently it turned on after a few minutes but then cut out. At this point I was able to control the volume but if I tried to power it off, it wouldn't shut off until I turned off the truck.

Suggestions?

My 2010 did the exact same thing last year, eventually it stopped working all together. Unfortunately I think it also ruined the power antenna because I've tried 2 two different aftermarket head units and the reception is still crappy. That was the first symptom I noticed in the stock unit, poor reception and it was followed by what you are seeing now.

I use my phone for my music so I had taken the antenna out and blocked it off pretty much at day one when I bought the truck. I just hated how tall it was and was no use for me. Never had an issue until recently.
