I agree but you can clearly see in my photo the lack of output on the passenger side as well. My 2016 Passat combats this by turning on the fog light on the side you are turning into. This projects light out in the direction you are turning to help see better.
Again, coming from their HID drop-in kit to these, that is the biggest change.
I have attached a photo with low beams and fogs.

Seeing your light output with no bumper confirms the issue is not my bumper.
The left and right side of the vehicle has zero light coverage.
Maybe I am just used to the HID's but every time I would drive through my neighborhood or dark roads I could not see anything on the road I was turning onto.
I've attached my photo for comparison also (this is with hi beams on and no fogs). On my photo, you can see how drastic the cut off angle is on the passenger side also.
This was a huge issue for me and now that it is confirmed on your vehicle also I wanted to bring it up.
My wife drove the 4runner one time, without my feedback, and came home complaining about the same thing.
@ ForRun
do you notice the same thing?
Having gone back to my OEM with XD HID drop-ins confirms my choice.
Wish we could see the light spread out more from side to side.
|
I notice a little bit but honestly it's not bad. The pictures were taken so I could compare accurate as possible by placing my phone dead center on the steering wheel. Don't drive with my chin on the wheel so when sitting back I don't notice it. The XB fogs do fill in that entire area if needed so it's really not a problem.
Living in a crowded suburb there's not many safe places to stop and snatch a photo. I actually had to drive a couple miles to even find a darkish spot! Anyway for normal driving with the XB headlights there is a wider side vision over the hid, it dims down towards the sides so not blinding people but enough to see what's up ahead.

I would have to respectfully disagree with you. The XD drop in HID kit in OEM headlights has a wider field of vision VS the Morimoto XB LED headlights.
I think in the country, where I live and it gets much darker, the differences are more noticeable.
What I am sure we can both agree with is this, both setups are leaps and bounds better than OEM!

If you look at the hid/led comparison pics above, you can see more side vision into the parking spaces on the right and on the left you can see more of the tiny tree and a little beyond. While driving I noticed the cast lighting also.
I'll admit the hid is a good and cheaper investment, I only switched to stop from giving people that bright glare. Now that I see them in daylight it looks awesome with the blackout look, glad I made the switch.
And yes, leaps and bounds over stock, I've got a couple flashlights better than stock!

to forfun and dot-tom:
I'm at work so i cant sneak away to read the last few pages of this thread..but can our fogs make up for the side cut offs of the headlights.
I live in the city, so hobbo's and meth addicts are as common as concrete..where i need to keep them in view at intersections, alleyways, etc.

You really like being beat up, don't you? Before you say "but where does it say?", re-read the whole link. Oh, and other states have nearly identical criminal laws.
Feel free to apologize again.

I think you’ve made your point but people will do what they want in the end.
For example, I live in a communist state where everything is illegal yet I still choose the life I want to live....let the communists be damned
