I don't think you can lose either way. There are always pros and cons for every update, and this will be no different. It looks to me like the trend towards incorporating more tech while dropping engine power (to increase mileage) will continue. Personally I don't care about push button starts and larger nav screens if the engine is smaller... with the '19 you already know what you're getting and that you like it, and for a great price to boot. A bird in hand, as they say...

Umm....look at the newer features on the 20 and then decide if you want them. If yes, wait. If no, don’t.

I got it for $37,300 out the door. I have already bought all the xenon depot lights to replace the stock with HID low beams, yellow LED fogs and LED Highbeams.
Would you guys cancel the deposit and wait?
Thank you

Do you like it? If so, drive it. It's not like it will depreciate and you won't be able to sell it later. What are you missing out on, CarPlay/Android? Get an aftermarket HU installed.

@row wow, that's less than I paid for my non-premium Trail in 2016. I was paying Maryland taxes then, but still. Neither decision is bad. If you can wait, I say great-that gives you more time to plan your build and maybe have more cash on hand. The new entertainment UI sounds nice. If you don't want to wait, that's a great price on a great vehicle. Good luck.

I'm in a similar-ish boat, and I think I'm hanging on to my 04 until the 6th Gen. It really just depends on what you're feeling you might catch FOMO over on the 20's. If it really is just the updated infotainment system, then I think you could just get an even nicer HU. If it's the other stuff that you can't just add, then it's a tough call.
I had a similar FOMO experience with my '16 Golf R and the '17/18 Golf R's, so I'm not going to repeat that and I'll be waiting for the 6th Gens.
As an aside, I think there are real questions regarding lifting and modding with the new radar controlled stuff. I know from the Golf R's, wheel alignments become more of a big deal with the radar controlled stuff, and I can only imagine what a pain that would be on an off-road rig where alignments tend to be needed more frequently.

Glad to hear it! So they can just go to any ol' alignment shop after modding or wheeling and get a normal alignment without them needing to re-align any of the radar controlled stuff? That's pretty awesome.

Better check with dealer if you signed anything with the deposit.
When I put a deposit down on my Chevy TBSS I wanted to change it from a 1SS to 3SS but couldn't as it was on its way. I would lose my deposit since it was ordered.

Most likely not until Fall. I would say take the deal or wait for a better deal. I dont think the 2020's will be vastly different aside from the safety tech. Personally, I would not wait...

I cancelled my pre-order deposit for my '19 TRD Pro as well and switched it to the 2020. The army green color was what I really wanted and I was looking at upgrading the head unit down the road any way. Now that it has CarPlay/Android auto, I won't have to do that.
Like you, I also bought quite a few accessories/mods (black chrome exhaust tip, Blue TFT Accessory Meter Display, Salex organizers, TRD oil cap), but that didn't stop me from switching. I don't know if the exhaust tip and the Accessory Meter Display will fit/work on the 2020. If it doesn't, I'll just sell it to recoup most of my costs.
The way I look at it, is that I keep my vehicles for longer than the average person. My daily driver is a 2006 Sienna, which I can't wait to get rid of. lol. We've had it since 2009 and my family no longer needs a 3 row minivan. If I would've kept the preorder on my 2019 TRD Pro, which I would've got at the end of this month or early/March; then I'd be kicking myself for the next 10 years every time I see an Army Green 4runner.
Do what you think is best for you. Like others said, there will probably be even better deals on 2019 4Runners once people start holding off for the 2020's.
