Just finished installing the SDHQ mount and Smittybilt x20 10k on my truck over the weekend. Install was fairly straightforward minus figuring out what to do with the control box. I have the same light bar setup as
@ MeefZah
and followed his lead by mounting the controls to the light bar bracket.
I'll try to get a few pictures of what I did with the front plate and fairlead when I get home later this afternoon.

bumper cut, do this first as it can be your practice run and will never been seen, so it doesn't matter how ugly it is.
For the facia, I just put it back on the bumper (after cutting the bumper) and traced from the inside of the bumper. Cut that out, and then filed it/trimmed a little more, and filed again. Again, these don't have to be perfect, because the fairlead will then cover the hole.
The annoying part is, if the dealer installed the license plate bracket, you now have two holes in the bumper. Hindsight, I would've bought a new Pro facia without LP holes, cut it for the winch, and kept my original one in the attic, in case I ever want to go back to no winch.

Is your bumper fascia sandwiched between the fairlead and the winch mount?

It is. I put some spacers in between the fascia and bumper, and then between the bumper and winch mount to keep it from bulging as some people experienced.

I had a chance to check out SDHQ's shop truck when I was in AZ last month and they cut the whole bumper/valence around the fairlead. Mine I ended up doing the same thing (also Factor 55 1.0 fairlead). I may go to the 1.5 as with the 1.0 it sits nearly flush with the bumper skin.
Front plate mount was able to be re-used by moving it up about 1/4" or so from the original location and attaching the bottom of the plate to the mount vs the top.

I kind of like the flush mount fairlead. I sandwiched mine because rectangular cuts are easier than oval cuts.

I agree with you there. A $20 harbor freight body saw is how I cut mine. Still need to sand the edges to smooth it out a bit.

I don't mind at all. The whole idea of the thread is to offer knowledge to those looking for a hidden winch. Let's see it.

Sag? (40lb mount + ~60lb winch)
@ MeefZah
and
@ TexasTJ
,
Thanks for sharing the writeup and winch fitment info. Very helpful to figure out what to get. I'm goad to see the winch fitment worked for more than the super pricey Zeon Warn models.
Not sure if you have a similar situation, but i figure it's worth checking...did you experience front end sag after adding the 100lb? if yes, how much?
I know there are a lot of moving pieces here (other armor, spring rate etc.), but if you can share your setup and general impact of the +100lb (mount + winch) it would be a helpful reference point! Trying to understand what i'm getting myself into and if new springs will be necessary.
My situation is:
- 6112 Bilstein up front with 600lb springs (standard rate). Set to perch 6 of 7 (almost to max height).
- Front Skid + Filler plate (75lb?)
- Sliders (90lb?)
Current setup is right at the end of too much forward rake (1" forward). Added weight will likely put me over the edge, the question is if I need new springs. I've got another perch (although it's a pain in the ass), but I'd like to avoid new springs if possible.
Thanks

There was no initial sag (I measured before and after). I haven't re measured now that it's been on for a little while but it appears there is now some very minor sag, i would guess 1/3".
Setup: RCI front aluminum skid (+ 10# over stock skid weight), no sliders or other armor. Eibach (Wheelers) T1 coils with 5100s at 0. I don't know the spring rate - I think it's 600 #.

I can't say that I've noticed any sag yet. Stock Pro suspension/front skid. Definitely no new springs needed at this point.
