@heq206 - There is a place in Vancouver that had Gobi Racks in stock. Not too far to drive from Seattle. It was posted up in another gobi thread. I'll see if I can find it.

EDIT: Here it is, Dick Hannah Toyota in Longview, not Vancouver . Here's the post. It's worth a phone call at least..

The 2020 Runner is the exact same truck as it's been since 2010. Any 5th gen rack you get for it will fit.

The Gobi rack is a tube basket construction and is nothing special unless you're specifically looking for brand name instagram clout. The fact that they've litigated against other fabricators that make tube baskets is both laughable and despicable at the same time. They also charge hundreds of dollars to idiots for accessories like ratchet straps.

Hey, thanks for the heads up. I called Dick Hannah and they do have both the full rack and rack w/sunroof cutout in stock. They charge basically MSRP on these + tax. They can also do the install for $1995 (rack & install) + tax.

I think I'm going to pass on having to drive down to Longview (2.5 hour drive away) to get this. Transporting this back to my home in the Seattle area would be a pain.

I was planning on installing this on my own with the help from a friend. I also think Gobi gives a free "small" item for Veterans/Military.

I'll give them a call to see if they charge sales tax. If they don't charge tax, then I'll definitely buy through Gobi. Tax is 10.5% where I live.

In addition to their crazy lead times, they have a rich history of litigation too.
The fabricator did not reproduce a Gobi rack, this is a one off roof-rack styled like many others in the industry, not just Gobi.

Also in Seattle and when I ordered a rack from Gobi, there was no sales tax.

It is not a reproduction, the only similarities they share is that it is a full length roof rack.

If a company takes 6 to 7 months to get their product to a consumer I would look elsewhere. There are too many other good options to have your money sitting in limbo so long.
If they are that far behind it is time to hire some additional fabricators and welders. There is no excuse for a 5 to 6 month wait on a roof rack no matter what company it is.

Cool Support your local fab guy!

Like 4Venture stated, go support your local fab guy. This was done at roughly half the cost of a Gobi, and all I had to do was drop off my truck to the guy for a day and explain what I wanted to use the rack for. He did the rest.

I had it powdercoated for about $200 locally as well.

I don't have an estimated build date, but he did say I would be the first Army Green off their lot. The dealership is a no 2nd sticker dealership, so I'm basically paying MSRP + taxes, licenses, and fees.
You wont get an estimated build date until Toyota starts accepting orders for allocation on 2020 4Runners. It was July 2018 for the 2019 model run. My order/allocation wasn't accepted until November of 2019. I had a $500 deposit down in March of 2018 and received my Pro Jan. 30th 2019. 10 month wait from a trusted dealer that kept me informed throughout the entire process. Good luck on the wait!

Skip the Gobi and buy a rhino rack. Very low profile and you'll have it as fast as you can get it from the west coast. Gobi's service is horrible, it's well documented, why anyone still buys their stuff is beyond me.

why not just bide your time and check the FS classifieds periodically? Gobi and N-Fab are all over the secondhand market; they're like the NordicTrack of 4Runner accessories.

I contacted Gobi yesterday about the military discount. They're willing to do $100 off or a free accessory. I was thinking about the moonroof insert, which Gobi said they would include for free. Their price for the sunroof insert is $200.

I was also looking at getting the "no-rise" option which would be a $150 charge.

Since I'm already waiting for the 2020 Army Green, I might as well get a head start on the Gobi rack wait. I think ordering from them is my best bet. I can get the exact rack I want (no-rise) and a free moonroof insert.

I'm going to probably hold off though until there is 100% confirmation that the 2020 4Runner TRD Pro is getting a moonroof. The vehicle they had at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show didn't have the moonroof on display. But that was the same issue with the 2019 Chicago Auto Show. Last year's show they showed the '19 TRD Pros and they didn't have the moonroof, but we all know that it's standard for 2019 TRD Pros.

I'm kinda in the same predicament but have always been concerned with the weight of a GOBI setup. I've been seriously debating between it or a Front Runner rack. Anyone have any thoughts?

Mentioning what? That they have long lead times? Exactly what legal recourse would gobi have being as though the statement is entirely true?
