CBI Rear Bumper question/opinion and maybe a pic?

Hey there. I've searched and searched but haven't been able to find much regarding the details of what you end up for the hatch area of a CBI bumper. I use this surface a LOT and just haven't seen much of how it ends up looking.

I REALLY like how C4 handles this area (but I'm not thrilled about hauling it around town to be powdercoated).

Anyone have any thoughts on the usability/durability of the surface you are left with in the hatch area? Is it flimsy and chopped-up looking or pretty solid still? Got any pictures of yours to show?

CBI rear

So, here is mine. It’s dark out or I’d get a better pic for you. I use this area a lot to and I think it looks pretty finished. That being said, if I was in the market to buy again, I’d be leaning way more towards the C4. It’s a full bumper and it looks like it has a lot more clearance.

When I build my next bumper, I’m going to try and get as much departure clearance as I can and I’m going to stick with a single swing out.

Awesome! Thanks for posting that. It DOES look better than I had imagined.

I don't doubt that whatever you build would be really nice. Your fab skills are top-notch!

Here’s what mine looks like. I use the surface a lot when I’m cooking. It’s just enough space to put all the cookware and a waterbrick down.

Pardon the dirt ;)

If you’re ever in San Francisco you’re more than welcome to check it out
