Energy Suspension 8.9104R rear bump stops in place of front bump stops

I kind of discovered these on accident while searching for other parts. So I rolled the dice and tried out Energy Suspension 8.9104R rear bump stops in place of my front bump stops. They worked well for me on a recent trip to Barnwell Mountain, it will bolt right on, all hardware fits. I know it says rear bump stops but that didn't prevent me from trying them up front.

What is a bump stop? I hear a bump-like sound when I go over some speed bumps and when I reach the bottom of a dip in the road. Would bump stops help that?

Your shocks and LCAs will thank you.
I'm also doing more research for other potential candidates for the rear bump stops but that is not priority for me at the moment

Gotcha. So are they limiting your overall compressed travel compared to stock?

You can cut/trim them if needed. The material is much firmer than stock.

Energy makes great replacement bushings for the 4Runner.

^ugh nice plug
I wouldn't recommend trimming anything, the other aftermarket manufactures options are all about the same height for a reason I'm sure and I have not seen or heard them mention trimming.
Your shocks will still compress, this prevents you from the hard bottoming out that happens with the shorter OEM rubber bump stops.

alright i installed mine today, and other than having to crawl under my vehicle, it was pretty straightforward to install.

Driving around, it seems to help. More squishiness over big bumps....less teeth rattling thumps.

I ordered from the amazon link posted by akkording, which seemed to be the best price, although it took a month to get to me. Luckily, I wasn't in any hurry to install these (hate crawling under my vehicle).

I got the red ones, cuz you know....its red.

Good buy

thanks mr. akkording for the recommendation of these.

How tall are the OEM ones? Did you have to jack your truck up to install?

Just ordered a set myself. I got them from Jegs.com. Paid a little more but they had them in stock. Wanted to make sure I had them on hand just incase I get an actual day off work to put my lift on.

OEM is about 1 inch tall. I didn't have to jack mine up to take off old bump stops. I did have to jack my ride up to install these mainly because my allen wrench was too dang long and wouldn't clear the lower control arms. If you have the right size allen wrench I guess you wouldn't have to jack your car up.
