Great looking truck Are you sure about no clip settings on the trd pro ? Here are mine. The driver side is set higher for the driver TRD Pro with 6112 coils (pics inside)

That clip setting on the Pro shocks is only there to level out the driver side lean. As you they are set differently, left and right.

Hi all,

Great info here. I just picked up a 2019 SR5 Premium 4WD and I am considering upgrades-mainly for use in Baja. I am new to this stuff. By "new", I mean I have never modified any of my trucks before myself or by a professional. I was considering the TRD Pro, but thought I would save some coin by buying an SR5 and upgrading over time. So, please pardon my ignorance if these sound like silly questions, but I was wondering the following:

1. If I were to buy a 6100 full kit, would I be able to achieve the same results? Or is there more to upgrading from an SR5 stock platform like changing out control arms or other parts that would not have to be replaced when upgrading from a stock TRD pro?

2. Also, for a moderately mechanically inclined person, is this a practical project for a newbie to DIY, or something that should be left to more experienced folks or a professional to do?

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

A full 6112 kit would give you different levels of ride height adjustability. The other option is buying a takeoff TRD Pro suspension and just doing the spring upgrade. A-arms would not have to be replaced to run either set-up.

Not hard to do but coil springs have a tremendous amount of stored energy and can be extremely dangerous if not handled correctly.

4 settings, I think. Stock and then 3 different height settings, up to 2.5".

Thanks for the info and the quick reply.

I have been watching a few youtube videos and it seems doable, but then pro baseball players make hitting a 90mph fastball look easy if I pull that up on youtube, so I'm just trying to get a feel for whether or not I am underestimating the process and the risk of damaging my truck by doing this myself.

Just got a quote to have 6112 professionally installed in the front with 5160's in the back and it came out to about $2,000, which sounds a bit high considering the parts look to be around around $1,000 total. Am I missing something or does that seem like a high cost for what looks like not much labor (at least in the eyes of a newbie watching youtube to judge labor involved)?

Thanks again for the info!

Well the first gen earlier 6112 released at the end of 2013/early 2014 did have 5 seat clips the manual had it measured at 2.5" of lift. So you might of recall those settings as well.

Current 6112 design model will give you 2.75" at clip 7 so the manual claims.
