5th Gen Pelfreybilt Rear Bumper Install Help
Hello!
I know some of you might want to dump your anger at me for getting one of these or for whatever other reason. I am one of the guys BAMF helped out and yes I also got screwed over by the Pelfrey Bankruptcy. If you could not shit on me that would be greatly appreciated, I'm just looking for a little help.
I know there were others that walked away with the swing out bumper, did any of you end up with the install guide? BAMF said there was for sure one document, if you have it is there any way you can scan it and send it over my way?
Thanks in advance!
Rico

I don't think there are any full bumpers with swing outs out in the wild besides Lawndart's. The only other Pelfreybilt bumper I've seen is on a rig is in Oregon and it was the base bumper that used to be mounted on Satin's company rig.
Do you have all the components and hardware? The base bumper most likely attaches similarly to how other bumpers attach to the frame and rear crossmember. Perhaps you can use other manufacturer's instructions as guidance.

I believe there is one other dual swing out Pelfrey rear bumper in the wild. I think it's on a blue or black 4R from Cali. Seen it on IG but can't remember his handle exactly. Hopefully they'll pop up on my feed and maybe they can be a resource for the OP.

I mean honestly the install portion shouldn't be a huge deal since its a full replacement, the only thing that would make it tough is having the correct hardware, nuts and bolts obviously and any mending/support brackets. It can get a bit more complex if they were using riv or stick nuts as well.

If you give me a day, i will send you over a scanned copy of the installation instructions. Send me a pm with your email.
I am also one of the guys that BAMF helped out. I preordered the swingout rear bumper July of 2017 and i was ~4th in line to receive it after Lawndart and TeamFieldcraft but was hosed in the bankruptcy.
When i went to the fire sale at Pelfreybilt, I saw my rear bumper packed and ready to ship. BAMF took care of me and i was able to bring it home.

Yah same thing my bumpers had my name on it waiting for me to come in for install. Did you get all of your parts? Jerry mentioned that the spindle stuff was missing and he was going to contact a machine shop about creating them. I'll PM you my email. I just want to go through and make sure I'm not missing any other parts. But what it seemed like Evan mentioned it was all there except for that.
Thanks for the help!

We chatted through IG he doesn't have one since his is the one the guide was based off of. He did give me a heads up on a couple of things for the install which was awesome of him to do.

I have almost all of it. I'm missing some of the spindle assembly stuff and BAMF is going to help get that all situated. I just need a guide to make sure I'm not missing anything else.

It's more so I can make sure I have all of the parts. I have most of it, but Jerry from BAMF mentioned there was some stuff they couldn't find in the warehouse and wanted me to double check that I wasn't missing anything else.

We are all missing that part. It is what holds the swing out in place. You can install the rear bumper without it. However I was told by Evan, former installer of Pelfreybilt, that it is easier to install the swing outs with the bumper off. He said before they closed, they ordered 100 of the pucks and should have it but it is a matter of finding them or producing them.

Just finished installing my swing arms this past weekend. It was a bear only in the sense that it takes A LOT of adjusting heights and clearances as you start adding weight to the arms. I do have the instructions, a full set, and I’ll be happy to send you scanned copies when I get home tonight if you don’t get what you need by then. I spent a good 2 hours yesterday doing the final adjustments and can also send you pics of how much I had to shim between the bumper and frame to give you an idea. So far though the thing is rock solid, absolutely no movement of the tire going through dips and over speed bumps. I’m going out to Anza this weekend to test it though so hopefully it holds up.......as spare parts are going to be hard to come by. I’m also missing a few parts, called up Jason on Sunday as the guys were wrapping up and said he’s ship out to me, so that’s good. I wish I knew they were down there Saturday as I would have driven down to pick up the parts I needed, I’m just rarely on here and only heard about the sell off through a friend. Oh well. Shoot me a PM if you need anything, I’d be happy to walk you through any of the steps.
