Neat idea, I never really thought of building that. I know my truck (not 4runner but my truck lol) gets hung up quite a bit on the trailer hitch. Never put it together that that'd be a good spot for a skid such as this.

Would have been nice to see a D ring adapter on the thing... I don't have a fancy bumper to pull from so I dont think I could give it up.

With a D ring mount I’d be very interested... without it, not so much.

Pretty cool. Now they just need a red TRD decal that would fit on it. Might make it look a little less ugly. :-)

Cool idea. I agree with the above sentiment regarding the D-Ring.

That was going to be my exact response! I like the idea but it's useless to me if I can't attach a shackle. I don't have a bumper and no desire to get one.

For that price, that's going to be a hard sell. I use something similar that costs 50 bucks, and there is another company out there that sells one for 100 bucks and has a built in step, skid plate, and a hole to put a soft shackle.
I don't use mine for offloading, its to keep parallel parking Aholes from hitting my bumper...

This one in the link below doesn't have a D-ring but you can use it to pull with. Just look at the description at the bottom of the page. Also has some other nice features.
Body Armor Backbone Hitch Skidplate Accessory

Exactly one of the features I was eluding to. Also the ability to use it as a wheel chock is cool.
They don't have any faraway pics of it installed, but at the bottom of the web page they have some close up pics of it installed.

This is a better priced product and a more useful product than the one being advertised in this thread.
HOWEVER, if you have your spare in the stock location, it interferes with it. In order to prevent that, you need to use the first hole and that means that the skid sticks too far back. I considered cutting the plate to prevent it from hitting the spare, but decided to just return the product instead.
The reality is that the recovery insert with the shackle removed is plenty enough protection when going straight. Since it sticks a little behind the hitch, it takes the hit and leaves the hitch unscathed.
So I am simply using the insert and with good success.
