Best offset to be flush with 285s

On my 2nd gen Taco, I had +10 offset wheels with 285/75R16 tires. I like the look of the tires being flush with the fenders. A 0 offset with the same tires were close and still looked good.

The 4Runner looks to be slightly wider than the Taco. So I'm wondering what would be a good offset to achieve this look? Many aftermarket wheels seem on average to come in 0, -6 and -12 offsets.

17x8 with 4.5" BS and 0 offset is the perfect wheel on the 5th gen. Least chance of rubbing and a flush with the fender look.

I think something with -10 offset and 4.30" backspacing is pretty much dead flush or very, very slightly outside the edge of the fender. Check out some SCS wheel options... they have those specs available with plenty of pictures on this website for you to check out.

Actually, it's pretty well documented on this forum that 285s rub worse with wider offsets, particularly on the front because of the wider scrub radius when turning. Basically, wider offset wheels make big tires hit the mud flaps and front bumper worse.

OP, I agree that 0 offset on a 17x8 wheel is perfect to be about flush, but still under the fenders.

I have 285’s on 17x8.5 with 0 offset and I think they sit completely flush with the fenders.

I know 16s won't fit on the front wheels, but what about the rear? I have a set of 285/75R16s on 16x8 +0 offset wheels. I could put one on just to see how it would look if it fits.

It is so refreshing to read a thread where someone wants to keep his wheels under his truck!

285’s.........

Not sure about offset and all that.., I’ve got the stock limited 20x7’s,
285/55-20’s with 19mm spacers... seems about perfect to me.

the -10 offset of the vtx wheels makes 285s stick a good ways out from the fender

I have 17x8.5 0 offset with spacers and still feel like the fronts sit too flush. Will be switching to -38mm F5's soon.
