Toyota roof rack

A beautiful new Voodoo Blue TRD Pro passed me today while I was out walking. Whoever that was, congrats. Beautiful in all way except one: that ridiculous basket roof rack. You can’t put a cargo box on it, you can’t put a sea kayak or canoe on it, can’t put a tent on it, what the heck? Why doesn’t Toyota make a Gobi type basket rack, as an option, and put some rack fittings all the way forward so such a rack can be attached easily. My wife’s BMW has these fittings, and her Subaru before that had them. Or even some sequoia or Volvo style front to back raised roof rails, so at least you could put some crossbars in a more usable position. I am tempted to find someone at the local university CAD lab to make me some bars and drill out some holes under the rain gutter up front to attach them.

Yeah, I have a voodoo Pro, and I hate the roof rack. Ordered a Gobi rack and can’t wait til it arrives in 2021 so I can swap it out.
