Laptop Table / Stand

Anyone have any experience with a laptop table / stand for inside the 4runner? I have seen some that attach to the seat bolts, so you would attach it on the passenger seat, and then you could either pivot your body as a driver to use it, or if you sit in the passenger seat that is probably more ideal.

When out camping I just want to be able to be enclosed and be able to work on my laptop with little fatigue, and I figure a laptop stand at the right height would be ideal.

I have one made by ONYX that I've used for years. It works fairly well from either seat. Having a wireless keyboard really helps. It has been invaluable when used with an external GPS antenna and self contained map software when there is no cellular service in remote areas and especially after hurricane disruption.

The weak point is it moves around a lot when the traveling is rough. I've made a support strap that is a flexible cord wrap tied off to a short PVC post in the cup holder. It helps but is still not perfect.

@TerraCrawler

Lots to be had on amazon/ebay. Most seem to be either Steering wheel mounted or mount to the back of the front seat for use in the back seat.

RAM Mount also has similar mounts to what you describe =2014&cascade[vehicle_make]=TOYOTA&cascade[vehicle_model]=4RUNNER]Shop Laptop Mounts Full Kits | RAM(R) Mounts

Fleet (and ebay for used). They outfit Police cars and have lots of different options for mounting laptops in SUVs (4runners are not often used as police vehicles so you may need to make some changes to teh mounting of the vehicle specific ones.) Thanks @Boort . Right now I am trying to see if anyone has any experience with them. I am looking at the RAM Mount, a bit pricy but made for the 4runner.

I run basically the same setup as this, but in my F250 for work. I like it, and they have an option to buy an extension, I found without it I was twisting my body from the drivers seat to use it, once I put that on, it basically extends right in front of me and is quite comfortable.

I do agree that they move around a lot. I drive mostly on roughass oilfield roads here in western Canada with it, and luckily on the F250 I can 'wedge' the main pivot onto my arm rest/middle seat to keep it still. If you do go that route, invest in some cheap felt stickers. I took mine apart and cut thin strips and placed all along where it comes together from the slides. as well as underneath where the spring contacts the base. It drove me nuts for the first trip I had it in the truck... all in all, I use it daily and would miss it if I didn't have it..

Well, I don’t know about cars, but if you need to arrange an interior in a house, this page is ideal. Although I do not think that the arrangement of cars will be very different. Just look at the materials and see what works. Somewhere there I saw a section related to the interior and computers.

I had this in my Tahoe and purchased the base for the 4Runner so I could use it again. I switched out the laptop holder for a tablet holder since I pretty much only use tablets these days. I have to say that it is perfect. Absolutely no wiggle/jiggle and it's set up to sit in the perfect spot over the center console. I put foam over the base and the pole to spare my wife's legs/feet from bruising too.

This is my third vehicle to put in a no-drill Ram mount. They do cost a bit much, but they are great, they don't move a bit when locked in place. I spend hours every day using mine.
