I am pretty set on getting 5100s on all 4 wheels. I'd also like to do a 2.5" in the front 2" in the back and I am wondering. Is there a difference in ride quality and performance between adjusting the struts to achieve the height/using OEM coilovers and setting struts at 0"/replacing OEM coilovers with 2.5"front/2"rear?
I am looking to level the 4runner and give it a lift but don't know which route I should go.
Go 5100 set at ZERO. and then OME 885 front spring and OME 895E rear.
Good set up for a great price.
Still about 1 inch of forward rake, which I want because when I am loaded up for a trip the rear doesn't sag. Being totally level isn't real practical (for me) when you are loaded up.

I am thinking about the same thing. I've seen some 4runners on the freeway with a reverse rake and it looks awful. Worse than forward rake.

How much weight are you carrying when loaded up? Just curious.
Installed the 5100's over the weekend along with 1" cornfed spacers for the rear. Have a great mild lift and it's much tighter on the road.
I've got an alignment scheduled for Wednesday to fix up current no-so-great camber on the front end. However, driving around town today I noticed I'll occasionally get some "thunks" when going over big bumps, potholes, or doing anything that really compresses/extends the suspension. I've heard the "thunks" from both the front and back. Is that something that happens with a new suspension until it "breaks in?" My gut tells me no.
I'm going over in my head what might be loose in the suspension. We torqued most everything we could to factory spec, and using the no spring compressor method we didn't really tear too much apart.
It sounds sort of like swaybar bushing clunk from worn-out swaybar linkages (dealt with that in my old honda) so I'm suspicious of the linkages being loose, but we tightened those up pretty darn tight. Wonder if tearing them down and moving them out of the way was enough to upset them. Luckily that's a cheap replacement if it's needed.
Looking for any suggestions on areas to take a look at to figure this out. I tried shaking the truck from side to side while parked and couldn't get any noises out of it, so any other pointers would be appreciated.

Just spoke with Jason on the TA-LV team, I've got to say he's a bright guy. He spent a while explaining things and really making sure he knew what I needed. I look forward to working with you folks in the future!
