Retain factory Mic?

I'm looking to install a new head unit in my 4Runner Limited but I want to retain the factory microphone. Is it even possible or do I just have to run the aftermarket mic that comes with the HU?

This is the last piece of the puzzle before I make the decision to upgrade.

Haven't done much research except this link seems to be promising. Maybe the Tacoma piece works with the 4Runner also?

aftermarket HU's mic may have different requirements that the oem 4runner mic might not meet. but i would give both a try. most likely, you'll end up using the mic which came with the new HU.
