Cargo Base Plate

We just finished up on building a base plate to securely mount our fridge and drawers in the back of our 5th Gen. We looked at the commercially made ones that sell for $500 but decided to build our own for less than $100. As soon as we have the video edited and uploaded to our channel we'll share it here.
Meanwhile, here's a "teaser" pic:

I have been considering doing this my self. It looks like it is more work then I was thinking it would be. I really appreciate the video and a good idea of what I'm up against.

Looks good, thanks for sharing!

The one misnomer about the Goose-Gear plates/systems are that they are made from plywood, that's false and major contributor in the elevated cost of materials. Also, they are sprayed with Line-X but with a different nozzle to create a much softer texture that your standard truck bed. The price tag is alarming at first, but when you factor in the cost of materials, the R&D put into developing a simple bolt-in and easily reversible system, it makes the cost much easier to stomach. There's no question that one could easily make the plate for far less themselves, but when you start getting into the sleep systems, drawers, cabinets, etc. you will most certainly end up spending as much if not more when you factor in your time and that's if you already have the proper tools.

Looks really good, have you thought about measuring your spacers and sharing the design?

We're curious about what they told you their base is made of. We recently contacted Goose Gear and they told us they use a marine grade plywood. Although it's a great strong product, we believe it's a bit of overkill.
Goose Gear makes some excellent products and we're certain they put countless hours into their production R&D and mega dollars into the tooling. All that has to be paid for. For those without the time, skill, or tools to make one, their base is a great buy.
