I’ve got one like the weather tech one but it came off amazon $20. It does the job but I will probably go another route at some point. I hate having a cup holder gone.

I see why people like the ram mount. Personally I am not a fan. I hate the fact that I can’t insert or remove my phone with one hand.

Here’s a photo of where I mounted mine. I do like the location because it doesn’t interfere with my cup holders. And yes I can still shift into 4WD.

That being said, I’m waiting to find a better solution.

@A10MileHusker which mount is that, and can you insert and remove the phone with one hand?

Yes and no. You can put it up there one handed but I like to use two hands just to ensure good connection. There have been times when I dont get it on there and I'll notice it isn't charging.

Removal is one handed without any problem.

The mount is by ProClip.

Here is the mount: ProClip Left Mount | ProClip USA

And then you have to buy the attachment for whatever phone you have.

I was off road bouncing around quite a bit today and my Steelie mount didn't budge. I like it quite a bit. Just make sure to get the newer one where the mount doesn't go on your phone, only the metal plate does. I've read it may interfere with wireless charging. Doesn't apply to me; just something to consider.

Diffinitive cell phone mount solution thread?

I am certain I have owned damn near every phone holder made and have mostly been dissatisfied with all of them. However, there are two I now use and like them both for different reasons.

iOttie...The first is the iOttie Easy One Touch 4 (iphoneX). As the name implies, you can operate with one hand, can suction mount to your windshield or to your dash with a plastic dish with sticky tape between the suction cup and the plate taped to the dash. This thing is pretty awesome. Easily flips from landscape to portrait, doesn’t budge on bad roads and has an extension (4”) if you want the phone closer to your face. I run this one in the F250. Here is a link for this one. https://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Dashbo...=fsclp_pl_dp_1

X Grip...In the 4 Runner, I have the Ram universal x grip ball mounted to the top left corner of the radio trim. . Although I really like the x grip and highly recommend it, it does require two hands to mount and dismount unless you know finger gymnastics. Also, it doesn’t rotate from portrait to landscape unless you loosen the ball extender which is a PITA while driving. But it holds the phone firmly off-road bouncing around and less likely to come off unlike the iOttie might rock crawling. Since I run the 4Runner on tougher terrain, it is the better option of the two for that reason. But I do prefer the iOttie overall. And on paved roads, iOttie is the best.

And neither of these mounts require any attachments or modifications to your phone or phone case. And if you have a wallet type case, both mounts will accommodate.

Subbed and looking forward to hearing what others are using.

I am going to have to give the Proclip stuff a try. Is it as good as the Ram stuff with X-Grip? I am just not up to drilling for a mount.

No write ups as it was done with several other projects on the interior. However, this is link is for the mount, and you can pick the phone case that fits your needs from there too.

Man this would be perfect and I have same spacing you do but I have a wallet case so it narrows down my choices quite a bit... I will be saving it though, thanks for the link!

Have you ever tried to put a tablet on this mount?

No I have not, but I believe they have bigger mount surfaces and bigger magnets than what I have specifically for larger devices like tablets.

I have a Xvida wireless charging mount. I haven't had it off road or on anything too rough yet, but it hasn't fallen off hitting the pot holes of upstate NY which is just as bad. Plus it sits low enough that it doesn't block your line of sight looking out of the windshield.
