I thought they were a little silly when I bought a new off-road in December. After living with it for a few months and taking a few cargo-heavy trips I’m starting to see the appeal. My partner’s around 5’2” and it definitely would make her life easier. So for what it’s worth, in hindsight I probably would’ve added it.

My thing is I may eventually go with a Goose gear or my own custom deck so I would just end up removing it anyways. Is it level back there when the seats are down though? Thanks

If you’re doing the Goose deck system why bother? I have a 2019 Pro and I love the sliding cargo tray. I use it nearly daily. Much more so than I thought. Yes, the entire floor is flat with the rear seats down and the sliding tray.

How much is the option? How much could you sell it for off the lot? It makes locating mounting holes for a floor plate much easier (I didn't have the tray so all those mounting spots are covered by a layer of sheet metal).

IMO the slide out tray does not come out far enough to really benefit my back so I opted out.

Yes I also noticed it does not come out that far as well.

My girlfriend has a ‘17 SR5 and my plan was to make my own deck/sleeping platform that could be used in either if needed. I believe there is a 2.5 inch stepdown?

I use it all the time, and don’t have plans to add “permanent” storage system.

Since you plan to add storage, maybe compare the work required to install storage on one without vs one with, with the potential benefit of being able to sell the sliding tray here or craigslist or whatever. You can sell it to 808T4Runner for example ;)

I use mine every time I go to the big box home improvement store. Just put in the heavy bags and slide cargo back. Leaving room from other things.

When I placed my order for the TRD Pro I was hesitant on ordering the sliding rear cargo deck. But apparently if you order a white color TRD Pro you have to get it regardless. Not sure why but overall I'm glad I have it now because I find it useful.

I had it in my 2010, not in my 2016. I miss more than One would have think, even more during winter as I got my pants more dirty trying to load and unload cargo. If they would sell as an accessory I think I would retrofit mine.

I looked at the sliding deck and for me it seemed like a terrible waste of space and weight. But I am quite strong and have no trouble loading and unloading things.

Have to look for a used one that someone has pulled out and is selling.

Or check the dealer parts websites, but even if you could buy all the parts that way, you would pay way more than it was as a factory installed option.

I use mine occasionally, mainly when i am going to the range and am loading/unloading my gear, but plan on upgrading to a Goose Gear platform at some time in the next year.

I wanted the optional deck so that I would have a flat surface for car-camping, it was a must have. The sliding part was nice, but not as important to me.

Having had it for awhile now, I find the sliding deck is great for old guys like me because it makes a big difference on the back - much easier - to load heavy range bags onto the extended shelf and slide it in, rather than reaching over the rear bumper and into the truck to load up.

I have yet to camp in my truck, but I would definitely get it again next time. It's not like the T4R has a bunch of hidden space below the back deck [like my Prius ].
