Smashed, cut, and packed the seams with jb weld. I’ll let it cure. Finish up tomorrow.

Sanded / scotched everything. Scrubbed the wells with a brush and simple green. Flushed it with more green and wiped clean with micro fibers. Took a heat gun and dried it all. Acetone wipe, more heat to the panels, applied 3m undercoat which had been warming in front of a heater vent inside.

Looks great.

Letting it cure then I have to figure out how to afix the fender.

Cut up one of the glove box shelves I wasn’t using to shim the fender. Fender gap is near perfect but I need some slightly longer screws for another shim.

Overall pleased with the results. Time will tell if there is still rub but it should be mostly sorted.

Finished the drivers side. Jobs done.

Fender spacing and maybe making the passenger plastics look as clean as the drivers side is all that’s left.

Took my first rub free drive. Picked up a well deserved 12 pack. Idk how many days of labor I have into this truck but it’s a lot.

Looks amazing! You've done a far better job than I did for sure.
Thanks for documenting this will definitely be helpful to many

Clean them, spray with rubberized undercoating on the side you will be folding over. Fold over, spray rubberized undercoat over the whole pinch weld to seal it from the elements.

I did the above, i used a Small dead blow hammer

Bfh

After a year and a half of rubbing at full lock and articulation, I decided to take the leap on my 4runner and do the "BFH Mod". I cut a bunch of sheet metal and plastic and did the big "SMASH!, SMASH!, SMASH!" on the pinch welds. I decided to bend the welds outward into the recess to maximize the space. I covered the entire bent over pinch weld with 3M seam sealer and then sprayed 3M rubberized undercoating. I gained a ton of space and can finally take advantage of my BMC. I feel like I can make the jump from my 195/70/R17 Toyo M/T's to 185/75/R17 without much issue. Time to test.

Very clean looking. Going to get on the 3M coating for the whole area!

For the seam sealer that you used. Was it brush on, or from a tube?

I cut and folded mine, then covered in urethane, then painted.
