Rear Bumper Body Alignment Issues

Installed the TRD Pro lower bumper valance on the rear bumper and after re-installing the bumper, I noticed that it did not align properly with the rear quarter panels. I've attached photos showing the issue. Anyone have any advice on how to get this to line up?

Thanks in advance!

I didn't see any clips behind that portion of the bumper(possible they flew off when broken and that's why, but I didn't hear/see anything). Can anyone confirm that clips have potentially broken off? Do I need to take the rear bumper off again and line it up when reinstalling?

Rear Bumper Body Alignment Issues

Not familiar with them but do you have #10 on the pic below still on the vehicle. If so, it may have been bent and needs some tweaking or replaced. Or maybe just some tuff love to get it to seat.

Ahh. I do have that part underneath the bumper. I'll have to take the bumper off and check it out. Although that part is only $40 (x2 for the other side), i'm hoping I can just tweak it into place.

Thanks for your help.

I have the same issue on mine although it does not stick out quite so far. Mine is more towards the upturn. it just want grab enough to hold. Let us know if that works. It definitely has to do with the little white clips and the black piece it clips into. I don't think I broke any either, didn't see any pieces on the ground.

those snap in.

option 1: lightly use your palm and give it a small light hit (it might clip in).

if that fails see option 2:

option 2: remove your mud flaps and rear bolts under and in the rear of the wheel well. Gently pull the bumper outwards (they will begin to unsnap) you can feed your hand in there to help push where the seem is outward.

Check tab. Mine once folded over - was lucky to fold it back and put it back int he hole... (hate it when that happens...)

thats not it see option 3:

option 3: congrats! your 4runner is totaled. Call your insurance company and tell them you need someone to come haul it away cause it needs to be crushed....

lol honestly option 1 or 2 usually solves it.

Take pictures if you get to takin the bumper off might be able to help you out.

Good luck

Yeah mines like that on one side because I lazily half pulled my bumper off to run breather lines. I bent it. Looks like you bent yours as well I would say you took the bumper off improperly and bent the sides out. I plan on heat gunning it back into submission.

Going to tackle this on the weekend, thanks for the help fellow 4runr owners. I'll pray I didn't break my clips. Any tips on heating the clips?

low heat i usually have my hand right next to the tab getting hit by the wind. If you have to pull your hand away because its too hot - then its too hot for the plastic.

I usually do a couple seconds on 1 off - experiment. Dont rush it.
