Lost my XM Icon on the Radio

I took my 2015 to the dealer today to get the airbag recall work done and some how or another the XM icon on my radio is gone.

Called back to the dealer and they are very confused.

Am I missing something or need to do anything to get the icon back?

Thanks,

77

Found the problem...

When the tech removed the radio to replace the airbag, he did not plug the XM antenna in all of way.

What they told me, not what I observed.

I had the same thing happen when the dealer did my recall as well. Had to take it back in...they told me the tech forgot to clear an error. But I'm fairly certain the antenna wasn't reconnected.

I just had this happen to me after a service for the Takata airbag recall, battery replacement, and scheduled maint. No XM available as an audio source, icon disappeared.

Solution: I read someone fixed it by removing the fuse for the radio and turning on the 4runner, then turning off and replacing fuse, that didn't work. What did work was i found what connector connects XM to the car, and then i wiggled it and pushed in to seat the connection. Turned on the car on in my garage and immediately the XM icon was back. I found a page about how to remove XM radio icon, and basically did the reverse of that LOL. I wouldn't be surprised if the cable runs behind the air or something like that. The dealer assured me the head unit is absolutely not removed when replacing the passenger airbag.

Complaining about the dealer you don't have to read:

Dealer told me to talk to XM support and that it was normal for the xm icon to disappear, i asked twice to confirm because that's obviously BS. Left a yesterday with dealer service person saying that i talked to XM and they can't do anything, and called 4 times today to try to get the vehicle back in. Maybe they have caller ID. Luckily I had not completed my review of my service with Toyota yet.

I did not have this issue on my 2015 4Runner, but on my 2017 Tundra I did. I installed the Rago dash plate, which involved taking the radio out of it's place for a few minutes. When it went back in, the XM icon was gone. I had not unplugged any of the connectors, so I was a little confused on what could have happened. I took the head unit back out twice just to check connections, pulled the fuse, and even called XM and spoke to their ridiculous "advanced support team". In the end, all I did was pull the HU back out a third time and reseat the antenna connection on the XM part(the bottom) and then while the radio was still hanging in my hand I turned the truck on and there it was back again. I wiggled that connection and it went away. I wiggled it once again and it came back, so I carefully put the radio back in place and so far it's still on.

I hope that helps someone struggling with this issue.

To answer my own question : Toyota book is 3 hours. Service representative says 1.5 to 2 hours real time.

We'll see how it goes as I'm at the dealer now.
