Sorry, I never got a chance to take photos but the install was pretty easy. Took me quite a bit longer cause i like to keep things clean and cables tucked away. The sub definitely helps fill the sound more on the low end.

That looks great, did you use the Maestro for steering wheel control? On our JVC head unit to change the up/down button from seek to preset you just tap auto1 or auto2 on the screen when the tuner is on. Probably different on yours though.

I lived in Atlanta for several years and Houston is definitely worse with slightly higher temps but a lot more humidity. Don't take that from us Texans, hah.

I’m not sure if anyone answer this yet for you, but if you’re using the maestro are our presets are press and hold.

I actually had the F309 installed. I kept it for about 3 months before switching to the ILX-107. I just couldn’t get over the resolution on the F309. Plus I wanted wireless Apple CarPlay. In addition the user interface on the radio is pretty strange. As the original poster mentioned the floating unit does grow on you and my issue wasn’t the aesthetics of the way it looked installed. Just thought I’d add my two cents for anybody that might be interested.

Of which radio? I assume the 107 since there are pics of the 309 in the thread.

Any Pros or Cons to offer on the 107?

Was the screen really that bad on the 309?

Any issues with the wireless car play?

Any installed pics?

Thanks!!

I looked real hard at the 107, it doesn’t have an xm tuner built in and it doesn’t have any kind of nav if that matters as you’d have to use your cell data for maps always. I use xm almost exclusively as my audio source and the maps are handy on the oem system to show traffic congestion.

I wouldn’t say the screen was terrible but if you’re the kind of person who would appreciate the screen resolution difference between an iPhone 5s and an iPhone Xs it will bother you. It REALLY is noticeable on the backup camera. Also, the user interface is different than on the 107. Not in a good way...now that I’ve used both. With all of that said I really wanted wireless Apple CarPlay and didn’t learn it was a thing until after I had purchased and installed the 309. Wireless CarPlay works great. Here are some pics.

Looks great and thinking this is pretty much what I want also. A couple questions, if you don't mind-

Steering wheel controls all good with the Alpine?
Metra dash kit? Repainted or as-is?
Did you buy a package via Crutchfield?
If self install, how did that go?

Thanks

Use the XMSirius app instead of a tuner. The sound quality is way better. SiriusXM app is also Carplay approved.
