With all of that said I really wanted wireless Apple CarPlay and didn’t learn it was a thing until after I had purchased and installed the 309. Wireless CarPlay works great. Here are some pics.

Thanks for the info. Now I'm torn between the two. Love the look and screen size of the 309 but the wireless of the 107. Damn May wait and see if there is an updated 309 model at the end of the year. Assuming they will release at Sema.

Metra dash kit? Repainted or as-is?
Did you buy a package via Crutchfield?
If self install, how did that go?
Thanks

The key to the steering wheel controls is to get the maestro RR. They all work perfectly then. I used the Metra black kit. You can’t tell the difference between the stock trim and it. I bought from Crutchfield as a bundle with their Pre-wiring option and it was pretty much plug and play. Get everything from them in one shot. Also watch YouTube vids on how to disassemble the dash....it super easy.

Love the look! I am running an SR5 though so I think my trim is the lighter gray. Anyone else swapped out the climate control trim in an SR5 to match the darker metra?

You can do that, but then you'll have to swap the trim down below by the shifter as it won't match anymore. Not sure if anyone makes aftermarket for those parts, so you'll be buying factory. That'll be $$

I’m doing the same thing, hoping for a wireless CarPlay for the 309 next yr. It’s only a few months away, it’s worth the shot.

I may make the switch as well if they come out with wireless.

Looks great. Any issues (other than price) that would keep you from recommending this unit?

Following back up on this thread... any updates 9-10 months later? Love the look of the 309 and it’s big screen and hate the leftover real estate on the sides of the 107 and other double din units. Also really want to go wireless CarPlay. Lastly, I’ve heard the 309 doesn’t dim with the lights, any experience with that? Thanks!

Only the 7600 and 8600 have floating display like the 309, looks good.
