Welp, already tried that. I'll give it one more shot... Do you mind telling me which dealer you used? The one I tried said I needed to go to my nearest dealer for a visual inspection (even though it wasn't a warranty issue?!?) and was wondering how "I even found this part online".

Toyota is doing this with Tacoma’s and their grille. I have a friend who was forced to buy a knock off because Toyota claimed they don’t want lesser models representing their top trim levels unless it’s a legitimate trim. So basically, no polishing turds.

I think they’re trying to maintain the premium image and specs on their top trims so potential buyers recognize the value in spending the extra money. The problem is any sought after part WILL be replicated and sold (for less) so Toyota is just missing out on the money. Look no further than the Chinese knock-Off grille thread here.

Agree⬆️ If Toyota wants people to spend their money on Toyota it should offer greater distinctions between models instead of water down versions

So Yota is just playing this game with the weird roofrack my ‘19
Pro came with? I put ‘17 Pro Suspension and Wheels on my other halfs ‘17 SR5, nobody asked for a Pro VIN. As a matter of fact they were quite happy to sell it to me. I had them do the install as well. Huge ride improvement. Games....

Frankly if I could get mine off without damage, the bolts are seriously on with locktite. i'd happily sell this roof rack to someone and not worry about resale. it is hideous not to mention challenging in some parking garages.

I think more people dislike it than like it. The Pros are sitting on lots a lot longer than they used to. A dealership near my work has two that have been sitting there a while. Of course, the price increase and word that the 2020 will include safety sense and CarPlay might have something to do with it as well. If you like the rack, this is a great time to get a Pro below MSRP.

So yesterday I went down to the dealer to have them remove it and show me the fabled backing plates the bolts attach to.

The key to removing it is either using brute force (though the torx bolts strip easy so be careful) , or a solvent to loosen the locktite. However, for each pair you have to loosen one, then the one next to it, back and forth slowly as opposed to loosening and completely removing one bolt then tackling the other. The reason for this is that the backing plate has a very small tack weld holding it into place above the headliner and it can be pulled away accidentally if you so much as look at it the wrong way and fall into the abyss. Good luck taking yours off!

I have the delete kit in its place now:

Also, the dealer really tried to screw me on the labor charge for 15 minutes worth of work; $130!!!!! After arguing that I had just bought this Pro from them a month ago they left and returned dropping the charge to $15 flat.... Shysters. Whatever I'm just happy the rack is gone.

Once I was about to load it up and leave I packed it into the back and noticed that it's light as hell. 26lbs total including the crossbars on the scale. Aluminum, not steel, and only rated for 110 lbs. Whatever though, it's sold now.

UPS wanted $220 to ship from Columbia SC to NE Georgia. The dimensions are just an inch or two over their 'oversize' formula.
